Scouting report

  • Oswego can hit and pitch but their Achilles' heel is a defense that ranked 285th. Teams that manufacture runs might find the going easier than trying to outslug the Lakers. The 34-12 score in a May 1 win vs. St. John Fisher is not a misprint.
  • The Lakers are on a roll, even more than most teams this time of year. Oswego was 21-11 at the end of April but is 9-1 since, outscoring opponents 108-36. (The number is still impressive if you take out the St. John Fisher game and just call it 74-24.)
  •  Oswego was 5-6 against teams that made it to the regional round and turned this around four straight wins in the Regional.
  • The coaching staff will need to look at the film. Oswego has only faced one if the teams in this year's World Series in its long history, and that team was Concordia-Chicago in last year's final weekend.
