    Today it was a good day for the Leopards as they extended their lead over Pomona-Pitzer by a game with a win over Whittier while Pomona fell to Chapman on their SCIAC series that opened on Friday. Lurking in third place is CMS who is poised to move up the standings if the top two teams falter.

    There is a storm brewing in Southern California this weekend. Highlighting the Friday slate, Redlands upset La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer gave Claremont their first loss of the season. The biggest surprise was Whittier taking game one of their series with Cal Lu.

    Claremont-Mudd-Scripts took two from No. 7 Chapman but hey were just one of five teams that defeated Top 10 teams on Sunday. Babson, Christopher Newport, Rose-Hulman, Washington and Jefferson were the others with wins against the Top 10 team in the nation.

    Down late in both of its games at Whittier on April 18, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team found a way to win on each occasion as CMS swept Saturday’s conference doubleheader and captured the weekend series win. In the first game of the day, CMS overcame a six-run deficit and came away with a 12-9 win.
