D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its fourth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the eleventh Team of the Week of the 2015 season.

Games of April 20-26, 2015

C  Joe Coyne, Sr., Saint Joseph's (Maine)

Coyne hit .500 (6-for-12) in three conference tournament games last week. The senior catcher had two runs, two doubles, two home runs and six RBI in the GNAC tourney. He handled 25 chances without an error and threw out the only runner that attempted a stolen base.

1B  Zachary Uher, Sr., Baruch

Uher had a big doubleheader vs Lehman, batting 4-for-8, with three homers, five RBI and five runs scored, finishing the week 9-for-15 (.600).  Uher added another home run and two doubles for a 1.533 slugging percentage. He scored seven times and drove in six.

2B  Shane Sawyer, Sr., Sul Ross State

Sawyer led the Lobos with 10 hits in six games last week (.400). Sawyer scored twice and drove in two. He hit two doubles and a triple.

SS  Michael Polcyn, Sr., Ripon

Polcyn had 13 hits in a week that Ripon went 5-1. With five extra-base hits (double, triple, three home runs), he scored six runs and drove in ten. Polcyn had a slash line .448/.448/.862.

3B  Jeff Kammer, Sr., Webster

Kammer swung a powerful bat last week in helping the Gorloks go 3-1 overall. On the week he was 12-for-17, batting .706 with two home runs, three doubles, 11 RBI, and six runs scored. Kammer had a 1.235 slugging percentage on the week and a .722 on-base percentage.

OF  Connor Bowie, Jr., Mt. Aloysius

Bowie led the Mounties to a 3-1 week in conference play batting .588 (10-for-17) and slugging 1.353. He scored five and drove in eight. He broke the single season Mount Aloysius home run record with his seventh home run of the year.

OF  Devon DeRaad, So., Occidental

DeRaad batted .571 (4-for-7) in two games. He scored twice and had five RBI. DeRaad set Occidental's single season home run record, hitting his 12th of the season last week.

OF  Fabio Ricci, Jr., Cortland

Ricci made the most of his playing time during a 5-0 week for the Red Dragons. In four appearances, Ricci batted .875 (7-for-8) with three walks, a double, triple and six runs scored. He reached base in his first 10 plate appearances (seven hits, three walks) before grounding out in his final at-bat of the week.

DH  Jayson Yano, Jr., Stevens Institute

Yana drove in 14 runs in five games for Stevens last week, hitting .600 (12-for-20). He also score ten runs to go along with three doubles and four stolen bases.

SP  Tyler Leavitt, Jr., Southern Maine

Leavitt carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning before surrendering his only hit of the game. Only four Keene State batters reached base during the game, two via errors, a hit batsman and the lone hit (single). He recorded six strikeouts.

SP  Tim Ingram, Sr. Old Westbury

Ingram tossed his second-straight complete game shutout in pitching the Panthers to a game two 6-0 victory versus Purchase. He retired nine of his first 11 batters on strikes before allowing a single to erase his no-hit bid. Ingram finished with his second-straight one-hitter to go along with firing a career-best 15 strikeouts, while allowing one walk in seven innings of work.

SP  Josh Outsen, So., St. Joseph's (L.I.)

Outsen pitched a perfect game against Yeshiva with 12 strikeouts in seven innings.

SP  Dan Scheibe, Sr., Whitworth

Scheibe threw the first nine-inning no-hitter by a Whitworth pitcher in the metal bat era in a 2-0 win over No. 14 Linfield. He totaled 11 strikeouts against two walks and one hit by pitch. He had a stretch of 19 consecutive batters retired during the outing.

RP  Brady Wright, Jr., Mt. Aloysius

Wright led the Mounties off the mound this week recording a win and a save in two of the Mounties three key AMCC victories. He did not allow a run in three relief appearances, while holding opponents to a .111 batting average over 5.1 innings. Wright also struck out four in 1.2 innings of relief against Division II opponent IUP.
