Jerry Scavone and Alex Mumme gave Ursinus a strong one-two punch atop the lineup on the way to a 7-5 non-conference victory at Gwynedd Mercy. Ursinus (13-11) started slow at the plate in what looked to be a low-scoring affair but finished strong in large part to the bats of the power-hitting duo. The pairing did heavy damage in the second and third spots in the Bears' order, combining to go 7-for-10 with six RBI and three runs. Mumme is now one shy of tying Craig Walck for the most home runs in school history. In a losing effort Dave Tatoian made history with a solo shot in the eighth inning for Gwynedd Mercy. The blast was the 21st of his career with the Griffins, breaking the program record of 20 held by Tim McMenamin and James Martin.
Freshman Colby Toth pitched one of his best games of the year and the King's College offense gave him plenty of run support as the Monarchs defeated crosstown rival Wilkes 9-3 on in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom series opener from Lipo Field. Working on just five days rest after his complete game victory over Delaware Valley on Saturday, Toth was even better through seven innings against the Colonels (11-15, 5-8 MAC Freedom) on Thursday. The lefty held WU to no runs and just three in the first seven innings. After a one-out walk and a single in the eighth Jacob Lupas was brought in the close out the game for King's (12-13, 8-5 MAC Freedom).

After a five-day layoff there was some concern that No. 18 Denison's hot streak might be put on ice. Those concerns were proved premature after Thursday night's 11-2 win over Marietta. The Big Red also carried an 11-game winning streak and a 21-2 record into Don Schaly Stadium. Rookie lefthander Will McManaman took the ball for DU and continued to dazzle. He pitched six innings, scattering five hits and three walks while striking out seven. Marietta scored one run in the first after D. Yenzi reached on an error to lead off the game. After that, McManaman was in control and he got plenty of help from the Big Red offense.
Sophomore James Sinclair, senior Henry Curran and senior Jake Dexter combined for a one-hit shutout and sophomore Sam Troiano, junior Dylan Hapworth and junior Andrew Hillier each belted home runs to lead the third-ranked University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 4-0 win over the St. Joseph's (Maine) Monks in a non-conference at Larry Mahaney Field. With the win, Southern Maine improves to 17-6 overalll USM is 67-16 all-time against the Monks and have won the last four over SJC. Suffering their second straight loss, the Monks are now 20-8. Sinclair earned the win on the mound for USM pitching 6.2 innings, allowing just a single base hit and a walk, while striking out six. Curran and Dexter pitched the final 2.1 innings, combining for four strikeouts, and did not allow a base runner to close the game. Sinclair, who improved to 3-0 with the win, got enough run support out of the Huskies 10-hit attack.
Curry came out on top of a 16-13 slugfest against Lesley in non-conference action. The two sides combined for a total of 32 hits in the contest. Eight of nine starters finished with a hit for the Colonels (9-14-1 overall) led by three apiece for senior Michael Strizzi, sophomore Garrett Fosher, and junior Adam Duarte. Freshman Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.), junior Jared Keller and sophomore Dylan Ketterer each had two hits. Duarte finished with a career-high five RBI in the contest. Freshman Ian Spillane and senior Jacob Cervantes each had three to lead the Lynx (6-17 overall).
Endicott took down UMass Dartmouth, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon at North Field. Joseph Millar led the Endicott offense as he went 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. Brendan McDonald and Kyle Brennan were also credited with an RBI each during the contest. Kyle Wollman got the start on the mound for the Gulls (4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO) and Cooper Anibal improved to 1-0 overall on the season with the win (5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO). Endicott is now 8-3 all-time against UMass Dartmouth.

Middlebury scored in six different innings Thursday against Northern Vermont-Lyndon en route to a 12-2 victory over the Hornets (7-16) on Forbes Field. Sam Grace (2-0) picked up the win, allowing just one hit with one strikeout in his inning of work. Jackson Atwood went the first four innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits with four strikeouts. Evan Stewart and John Tipps each threw a pair of innings, as Stewart struck out two and Tipps had five punchouts. Gough finished the day going 3-5 with a double and a career-high five RBI, while Han was 3-4 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Kean pounded out 14 runs and 14 hits on their way to defeating Ramapo College by the final of 14-6 on Thursday afternoon. Zachary Marzano was 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBI, helping his own cause as he earned his first win on the mound in his first start of the season. Marzano (1-0) tossed seven innings allowing two runs and five hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
Rivier christened Historic Holman Stadium with an 8-4 non-conference win over visiting Pine Manor this evening under the bright lights. The win lifts the Raiders to 7-21 on the season and earned the season series win (2-1) over the Gators, who fell to 5-16. Way earned his first collegiate win by throwing 3.2 innings of scoreless baseball allowing just two hits while striking out two. Mainey allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits while walking seven and striking out four and Cochran recorded his first career save with his outing. Offensively for Rivier they were led by Martinez who finished the night going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two walks and a RBI. Mele also recorded two hits as he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while Maxfield set the table by going 1-for-2 with three runs scored and two walks.
The New England College bats come alive, as the Pilgrims tied a season-high four home runs in the Pilgrims 19-7 win over Plymouth State in non-conference action, at Laurie Cox Memorial Field. This was the 32nd meeting all-time between the two schools, Plymouth State leads 26-6. The middle of the New England College lineup was dominating on the day. Morin, Delaney, and Powers combined to go 8-for-12 at the plate with four home runs and 15 RBI. Plymouth State is notorious on the base-path, as they lead Division III with 4.33 steals per game. The NEC pitching staff limited them to just one stolen base on the afternoon.
Scrapping their way to extra-innings tied at 4-4, LeTourneau would use a leadoff double in the bottom of the 10th to set up a game-winning walk off single to knock off ASC leading Howard Payne by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings at Conrad-Vernon Field in Longview, Texas. In the extra frame, Howard Payne would be retired in order as all three batters wound up as strikeout victims before Mahoney would lead off the bottom of the 10th with a double to right center field. Following a pop out in foul territory towards the first-base dugout, LeTourneau would choose to pinch-run for Mahoney with Colton Oney getting in the game as Kyle Guevara would come through in the clutch with a base-hit to center field to score Oney and send LETU home 5-4 winners.
Michael Matusz fired six strikeouts and hurled 100 pitches while allowing just one earned run as the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders defeated the Red Hawks of Montclair, 6-1. The win boosts the Scarlet Raiders to 8-12, 2-5 NJAC while knocking the Red Hawks down to 10-15, 1-6 NJAC. Connor Clare had an outstanding afternoon, leading the Scarlet Raiders with three RBI and a pair of hits with four trips to the plate. Michael Streim tallied two RBI while going 1-for-4 from the dish. Matusz (2-0) allowed three hits in seven innings and walked just four batters. Jonathan Anderson pitched 7.2 innings and allowed five earned runs and six hits on 119 pitches. Justin Bates had the only multi-hit game for the Red Hawks going 2-for-4.
Utica took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the second inning and placed the game in the hands of its pitching staff for the rest of the way as the Pioneers came away with a thrilling 1-0 victory in Empire 8 Conference action against visiting Houghton. UC ace Griffin Baur struck out six and allowed just three hits in 7.0 innings to pick up his 10thcareer victory in the orange and blue. UC's Jake Cavanagh performed his duties perfectly in middle relief, striking out one, in a 1-2-3 eighth inning to preserve the 1-0 lead. Closer Joe Palmieri then took the ball in the ninth and shut the door with two strikeouts and a ground out to earn the save. Palmieri's five saves this season tie the school-record originally set by Mike Zmudosky who played at Utica from 1986-1988.
