The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy put two more games in the win column this afternoon with a doubleheader sweep at Bartoszek Field over the St. Joseph's-Brooklyn Bears. USMMA beat the Bears 4-0 in Game 1 and 8-6 in Game 2 to win their tenth and eleventh games in a row. Senior Cristian Holloway launched a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the 14th-ranked Tiger baseball team to a 6-5 win over Texas Lutheran University on Saturday afternoon. The two teams have now split the first two games of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series, with the deciding game coming up tomorrow. Trinity improved to 23-8 this season overall and 11-3 in SCAC play, while the Bulldogs fell to 19-12, 8-6 SCAC with the loss. Trinity led for more than half the game, but TLU rallied with three runs in the sixth, followed by two more scores in the seventh to take a 5-2 lead. The Tigers tied things up with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, which eventually led to extra innings. Holloway's walkoff round-tripper was his only hit of the day, though he did have a sacrifice fly that tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. Kaleb Woodward finished with two hits and three RBI, while Alex Monson and Nicholas Lazzara also had two hits each in the game. Maddox McDonald went 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored.
MSOE was lights out hosting #8 Benedictine University, sweeping the #8 team in the country Saturday afternoon, 3-2 ans 15-5, including a run-rule victory in game two. In the opener, Benedictine (20-6, 9-5 NACC) jumped to an early lead in the top of the first but that last much long after. After Micah Overley and Chris Barnes each reached in the bottom of the second, Blake Hall ran out the double-play to tie up the game. Sam Meidenbauer led things off in the bottom of the fourth with a bang, blasting a solo shot over the fence to give MSOE (15-8, 9-3 NACC) the 2-1 lead. Later in the inning, Collin Truitt used his big bat ability, flying out to deep left field to bring Overley in to score to extend their lead to 3-2. Tyler Gronert limited the Eagles offense the rest of the way, only allowing only one more run to hold them off for a 3-2 win in game one. In the nighcap, the Eagles had a similar start to game two but was immediately shut down in the bottom half of the inning. The Raiders put up seven runs first, highlighted by a three-run blast from Hall, to gap the Eagles and sit in the drivers seat the rest of the game. Three more runs over the course of the next three innings for the Eagles in hopes of cutting into their deficit were totally halted when in the bottom of the fourth, six more runs for the Raiders, including two RBI hits from Jack Kalitowski and Meidenbauer, put the game out of reach the Eagles to come back from. Two more runs in the bottom of the sixth from Eagle errors helped lead to things ending early to finish of the sweep 15-5.
DePauw moved to 14-9 overall and 5-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference following a doubleheader sweep over visiting Ohio Wesleyan by scores of 7-3 and 13-3. The Battling Bishops dropped to 13-12 overall and 3-5 in conference play. In the opener, the Tigers scored five in the second and two in the fifth and never trailed. The Battling Bishops reached the board in the eighth with a pair or runs before scoring once in the ninth. In the nightcap, DePauw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second on Louis Florida's solo homer and then added two in the fifth and five in the sixth for an 8-0 lead. Ohio Wesleyan crossed the plate for the first time with a three-run seventh.
Ramapo College earned a key split with #18 Rowan University today on the road in NJAC action. The Profs (16-9, 4-6 NJAC) won game one, 13-2, before the Roadrunners (19-9, 8-2 NJAC) took game two in 11 innings, 4-3. The Profs took a 2-1 lead after three innings of action before they capitalized on Ramapo miscues to score nine runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 11-1 lead. Rowan took a quick 2-0 lead after one full inning of play in game two before Ramapo scored three runs in the top of the second. The Profs tied the game in the sixth with a solo home run from Anthony Schooley. Rowan went down 1-2-3 in the bottom half of the inning, setting up the eventual game-winning run in the top of the 11th for the Roadrunners. Cristian Alonso then lifted a sac fly to right field which allowed the eventual winning run to slide in safely at home plate. In the bottom half of the inning Ramapo reliever Will Paoli and the Ramapo defense got back-to-back outs before Rowan worked a walk and Dylan Maria singled with two outs. Paoli then induced a strikeout to end the game and earn his second win in as many days.
A pair of standout pitching performances from Ty Koehn and Max Sutter were key in Bethel's sweep of Concordia on Saturday afternoon. Ty Koehn took the mound for the Royals in game one tossing seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits striking out four and earning the complete game shutout victory for his third win of the season. The Royals plated three in the second and two in the third both via the long ball to win 5-0. In game two Max Sutter allowed an early run in the first but recovered to throw eight innings allowing just the one run, nine hits, no walks. Earning his first win of the year in the Royals 6-1 victory. Bethel improves to 13-10 on the year and 6-4 in the MIAC.
After a tough game one loss on the road on Saturday at the hands of The College of New Jersey, falling 12-0, New Jersey City University did not miss a beat. The Gothic Knights regrouped and came back for a strong 6-4 victory in game two to make it three wins over their last four games, all of which were in New Jersey Athletic Conference play. The top half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Lions (18-7, 6-3 NJAC) was a tough one for the Gothic Knights (9-16, 4-6 NJAC) as two of their four pitchers combined to allow 12 runs and only three players managed hits. However, the Green and Gold made like goldfish — short memories — and bounced back strong in game two behind some solid starting pitching from sophomore Dom Yarson, as well as rookie Ricky Del Rio in relief.
York College split a doubleheader at Messiah University in a key MAC Commonwealth series on Saturday. The Spartans won game one 7-0 behind a two-hit shutout from freshman Evan Hughes. The Falcons bounced back with a 9-2 win in the nightcap. The Spartans are now 17-9 overall and 9-5 in the league while the Falcons are now 23-7 overall and 12-2 in the league. The York offensive output in game one came in support of freshman right-hander Evan Hughes. He was outstanding as he allowed two singles and walked one in the shutout victory. The whitewashing is the first in Hughes' career. The loss snapped Messiah's conference best 11-game win streak. The Spartans took the lead in the third but the Falcons seized control of the game in the sixth as they recorded five hits while the Spartans had a pair of errors in the frame. The Falcons sent ten men to the plate as they pulled out to a 7-2 lead. York put a pair of runners on in the sixth but left them stranded. Messiah added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh to provide for their final 9-2 margin of victory. York loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth but the Falcons retired the next three hitters to escape any damage.
St. Norbert College had a roller coaster day against nationally ranked Aurora University, gaining a split in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex. The Green Knights dropped the opener 17-0 but bounced back to take an 8-6 victory over the Spartans, who entered ranked No. 13 in the D3baseball.com Top 25. St. Norbert had just four hits in the opener, while Aurora had 15 to pull away early. Matt Perry was 2-for-3 for the Green Knights. In the nightcap, the Green Knights struck early with four runs in the first inning. Down 7-2, Aurora countered with a pair of runs in the sixth inning but the Green Knights again answered with a run in its half of the inning. The Spartans would attempts to mount a rally, scoring once in the eighth inning but leaving the bases loaded. Aurora then scored another run in the ninth and twice had the tying run at the plate, but St. Norbert closed out the win.
Catholic improved to 20-7 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Wilkes, 6-0 and 4-3, on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania. The Cardinals extended their win streak to seven games ahead of tomorrow's series conclusion. Catholic sophomore starting pitcher Roman Tozzi flummoxed the Wilkes hitters to the tune of a complete game shutout in the Cardinals' 6-0 victory over the Colonels in game one. Wilkes scored the first run of the contest in game two, getting a run home after a leadoff triple from Nathan Loch, but the Cardinals would ultimately bounce back to grab a 4-3 victory.
Marietta College posted a pair of run-rule victories over Wilmington College Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers won the first game 14-1 in seven innings and then took the second game, 17-0 in seven innings. Marietta improves to 13-12 overall and 5-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Wilmington falls to 2-21 on the season and 0-8 in the OAC. The Pioneers scored 12 runs in the first three innings of game one. Back-to-back home runs from Alex Richter and Austin Amburgey highlighted the early barrage. Richter launched a two-run shot down the right field line and Amburgey followed with a solo home run to right-center accounting for Marietta's three runs in the second inning.
Following a 12-8 game one loss to Willamette University, North Central College put together a six-run sixth inning to propel them past the Bearcats, 7-4 on senior day at Zimmerman Stadium. In the opener, Jeff Hoffman launched a home run over the left field fence to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead early. Holding the lead all game, Willamette added a much-needed insurance run in the eighth and four more in the ninth to hold a 12-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. With two outs the Cards put the score at 12-8. The Bearcats recorded the final out to secure the 12-8 victory in game one. Game two began about the same as game one with Willamette belting a three-run home run to left field, taking a 3-0 advantage. This would last until the six ining where North Central earned a 7-3 advantage. Lehnen came in from center field to pitch the final frame of the game. He forced a Bearcat strikeout and two flyouts, earning his fourth save of the season.
Saint John's (Minn.) batted .493 (34-for-69) with 16 extra-base hits (10 doubles and six home runs) in a doubleheader sweep of Carleton on Saturday, April 13, at Haugen Field at Becker Park. The Johnnies (15-8, 6-2 MIAC) erased a 5-1 deficit with 12-straight runs for a 13-8 victory in game one and erupted for 14 runs over the final five innings of game two – including a walk-off grand slam from senior third baseman Joe Becker to invoke the 10-run rule – in a 20-9 win to complete the sweep. Six Johnnies totaled four hits or more on the afternoon (five scored four runs or more). Becker finished 4-for-9 with three home runs, 10 RBI and five runs scored in the twin bill. His nine RBI in game two alone tied the program record set by Bob Ilg on April 22, 1959, at Macalester. Becker now has nine home runs on the season and 18 for his career, which are good for fifth-best in SJU history. His 115 career RBI are second, second from the record of 122 owned by former teammate Max Nyrop '23.
In a top-15 clash between the best of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference, fourth-ranked Salisbury University put up three massive innings and left no doubt in an 18-3 bombardment of the 15th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains on Saturday afternoon at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium. The Sea Gulls erupted early for a big first inning and repeated their success in the third. Salisbury broke out again for a six-run seventh, scoring on a two-run Zach Geesaman sac bunt-turned-error, a single-and-error by Trent Waire that produced two, a Kell RBI knock, and a Danny Sheeler run-scoring single that made it 18-3.

Scranton (18-6, 9-4 Landmark) erased an 11-0 deficit in game one en route to a 19-13 victory and split a doubleheader with the Susquehanna River Hawks (13-16, 9-7 Landmark) on Saturday at Volpe Field in Scranton. A 13-run sixth inning proved to be the difference in the game as the Royals completed the massive rally from an early 11-0 deficit and notched a 19-13 victory. The River Hawks plated seven runs in the sixth to break a two-all tie and were able to hold on for the 12-5 win in the nightcap.

Allegheny swept Chatham in a Presidents' Athletic Conference road twinbill on Saturday (April 13) at West Field in Munhall, Pa. The opener was close, with a 5-3 finish, before the Gators (16-7, 8-2 PAC) dominated in the nightcap, taking down the Cougars (10-15, 2-7 PAC) 13-4. Pitching led the way for the Gators. Brent Herrmann pitched a gem once again, throwing 8.0 full innings allowing no runs until the ninth frame while striking out six en route to his fourth win of the year. The second contest was controlled by the Gators from the beginning. Allegheny scored five runs in the second frame to split the game open. Runs in the frame were driven in by Alejandro Samayoa, Ben Shields, Grant Dowden and Matt Jennings, who had a pair.

Freshman Bryson Gibson hit a walk-off single in Saturday's first game to help Simpson College clinch its second-straight American Rivers Conference series win. Gibson's hit to left center brought two runners around to score with one out in the bottom of the ninth as Simpson (13-17, 6-9 A-R-C) emerged victorious in walk-off fashion, 5-4. The victory gave the Storm back-to-back series wins after completing the season sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan this past Tuesday. Loras (18-9, 7-4 A-R-C) won the weekend finale 8-2 fueled by a 4-for-4 effort at the plate by Daniel Rogers, who drove in five of the visitor's eight runs with a pair of doubles and a triple.
Case Western Reserve University junior right fielder Nick Harms hit a two-run home run in each game of a doubleheader on Saturday as the 22nd-ranked Spartans ran their winning streak to a season-high eight games with a sweep of Kenyon College, defeating the Owls 16-6 in eight innings in the first game and 5-1 in the second contest at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland. The Spartans, winners of 15 of their last 16 games, improved to 23-6 overall with the two wins, while Kenyon fell to 16-9. It marked the fifth time this season that the Spartans have swept a doubleheader. The team also improved to 12-0 at Nobby's Ballpark this season. Harms and graduate student first baseman Dane Camphausen each drove in five runs apiece over the doubleheader, while graduate student catcher Jack Anderson went five-for-eight with six runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.
Gustavus split a MIAC doubleheader Saturday at St. Scholastica, winning game one 5-2 before falling 8-6 in game two. The Gusties move to 12-11 overall and 4-4 in the MIAC. Adam Biewen earned his third victory of the season after tossing a complete game in the opener. Biewen tossed seven innings with seven strikeouts for the second consecutive outing, but this time was rewarded with the win after allowing just one earned run on six hits. In the nightcap, the Saints regained the lead for good in the seventh after a pair of hits that knocked in three runs. Knowles had an RBI double in the ninth to score Gavin Baker, but the rally stopped there.
Fresh off a thrilling victory over Beloit on Wednesday, University of Chicago was back in action at home and taking on first place conference foe Lawrence University. While the Maroon bats couldn't figure out the Vikings pitching in time during game one, losing 8-4, it only took them a few pitches to do so in a second game blowout, 13-4, as the teams split on Saturday afternoon in Chicago. Lawrence (20-7, 12-1 MWC) played an advantageous game of baseball to begin the doubleheader against the University of Chicago (8-16, 7-3 MWC) and netted three of their first five runs because of errors or wild pitches. The Maroons defensive effort eventually got back on track but not before they were faced with a 5-0 deficit heading into the final frame. Game two featured a much different outcome. The Maroon bats exploded for nine runs in the first three stanzas including a third inning where they batted around and scored seven tallies. Erik Rindner would go on to have two different RBI plate appearances in that frame as University of Chicago would head into the last six innings holding a substantial 9-1 advantage.
Kalamazoo College split a doubleheader at Adrian on Saturday, dropping the opener 12-2 before winning the second game 10-4. Despite leading 2-1 after two innings, Kalamazoo was defeated 12-2 in eight innings in the opener. Kalamazoo trailed 2-0 after two innings but tied it with a pair of runs in the top of the third. Adrian took a 3-2 lead in the bottom half before Kalamazoo quickly regained the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. The Hornets scored six in the top of the fifth to make it 10-3 before an Adrian run in the bottom half made it 10-4. Neither team scored a run over the final four innings.
Plymouth State University set season highs for runs and hits in both ends of a Little East Conference doubleheader as the Panthers swept Western Connecticut State University at Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium on the campus of Trinity College on Saturday. The Panthers banged out a season-high 13 hits to back another strong start by junior Adrian Siravo to take game one, 12-5. Senior Jackson Curtis and sophomore Brendan Flynn had three hits apiece while junior Sam Malgeri blasted a two-run homer to pace the offense. Siravo struck out seven in 5.1 strong innings to earn the win. PSU put up another 13 hits in game two, plating a season-high 14 runs in an overpowering 14-1, seven-inning win. Graduate student Alex Rives had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and scored three runs, while Flynn stayed hot with three hits, including a double and triple, and six runs batted in. The outburst was more than enough as senior Eoin Hamell-Kelleher and sophomore Alex Noel combined to allow just four WestConn hits.
Penn State Abington defeated Penn College, 10-2, to open a three-game United East Conference series with the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at Bowman Field. Freshman Ethan Hahn earned his first collegiate victory as he went a season-high eight innings. He finished the game with three strikeouts after holding the Wildcats to just one run. McGee had a stellar day at the plate as he went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. His fourth inning home run marked his second of the season.
St. Olaf College maintained its spot atop the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after splitting its doubleheader with a 12-4 loss and a 7-4 win against Saint Mary's University on Saturday afternoon at Max Molock Field. Saint Mary's (15-9, 8-2 MIAC) broke open a 5-3 game with a seven-run sixth inning on its way to winning game one, but St. Olaf (17-9, 7-1 MIAC) responded by getting its bats going late in game two to salvage a split. The Cardinals held a 3-2 lead in the nightcap before the Oles scored five consecutive runs to bounce back from their first MIAC loss of the season. The split kept St. Olaf one game in the loss column ahead of both Saint Mary's and Saint John's with a 7-1 mark in MIAC play. The Oles host Bethel University on Wednesday, April 17 at 2:30/5 p.m. at Mark Almli Field.
Linfield has won four straight games after taking both games of a doubleheader against Pacific Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at the PLU Baseball Field. The 'Cats topped the Lutes in 10 innings in game one 12-7 before nearly blanking Pacific Lutheran in a game two victory 6-1. Linfield totaled 27 hits across the two contests while Nick Holm's streak of consecutive Northwest Conference games with a hit moved to seven.
Elsewhere in the Northwst conference, George Fox split with Pacific with the boxers taking the opener 5-2 and Fox the nightcap 1-0. The 1-0 win was also one of record for Fox as the win was the first nine-inning shutout by the Bruins since a February 2020 9-0 win over Pacific Lutheran. The game also marked the first time that Pacific had been shutout by an NWC opponent in three years, spanning back to a 1-0 loss to Whitman in April of 2021.
Lewis & Clark pulled off a pair of huge comebacks in game one and used a 9-run top of the seventh, to erase a smaller deficit, in game two, to earn a doubleheader sweep of host University of Puget Sound on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers erased deficits of 7-1 and 10-7 (in the ninth inning) in game one to snap a three-game losing streak and came back from a 3-1 deficit in the second game to earn their second doubleheader sweep of the Loggers this season.
