    The Brevard College baseball team (17-9, 7-2 USA South) fell in the rubber match of a three-game USA South Conference series to NC Wesleyan University (19-6, 8-1 USAS) as the Battling Bishops rallied late to take an 11-9 victory on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. 
  • Vasquez Walks Off in Game Two; Tornados Split Pair in First-Place Battle

    Frankie Vasquez roped a walk-off RBI single to left field as the Brevard College baseball team (17-8, 7-1 USA South) split a USA South Conference doubleheader at Gil Coan Field with NC Wesleyan University (18-7, 7-1 USAS) on a very windy Saturday afternoon. 
  • Tornados Pull Away Late for Series Sweep of Falcons

    The Brevard College baseball team (16-6, 6-0 USA South) used a three-run eighth inning to pull away from Pfeiffer University (3-12, 0-6 USAS), defeating the Falcons 7-5 to sweep the first home USA South Conference of the season for the Tornados on a cloudy Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.  Leading by one run for a majority of the middle innings, 4-3, Brevard scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth and then held off a late ninth-inning Falcon rally to secure the series sweep. Brevard's 6-0 start in conference play is the best in the program's NCAA-era history. 
  • Brevard Takes Two to Open Series vs. Pfeiffer

    On a sunny Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field, the Brevard College baseball team (15-6, 5-0 USA South) defeated Pfeiffer University (3-11, 0-5 USAS) in a pair of USA South Conference contests by final scores of 8-2 and 1-0 in BC’s first home conference games of the season. BC pulled away late in game number one and used stellar pitching performances in the second game to take both games of the afternoon twin-bill.
  • Historic Offensive Day Sends Brevard to Series Sweep of Southern Virginia

    The Brevard College Baseball team (13-6, 3-0 USA South) swept its conference-opening series against Southern Virginia University (7-9, 0-3 USAS) on Saturday in Buena Vista, Virginia.  The Tornados and Knights battled in a slugfest in the second game of the three-game series, with BC ultimately coming out on top 19-16 in a game that featured 35 combined runs and 19 combined scores in the final four innings of play. Brevard then came out with a ferocious offensive performance in the series finale, scoring 15 runs in the first two innings in a 23-6 record-breaking rout of the Knights in a contest that was called after five innings of play. BC set the program single-game run record with 23 runs scored in only five innings of game action.

  • Brevard Splits Doubleheader in Danville to Begin 2023 Season

    Sophomore left-handed pitcher Connor Crosby (1-0) earned his first career victory on the mound as the Brevard College baseball team (1-1) opened its 2023 season with a doubleheader split against Averett University (1-1) on Saturday afternoon in Danville, Virginia.  The Tornados' game-one comeback effort came up just short as the Cougars held on for a 3-2 victory in the season opener, but Brevard was able to bounce back in game number two, using a three-run fifth inning and stellar pitching performances from Crosby and Bryce Bowers to close out a 4-2 win, earning the doubleheader split. 
  • Brevard Takes Two in Dramatic Fashion, Wins Series at Covenant

    The Brevard College baseball team (16-10, 5-4 USA South) won a pair of one-run USA South Conference games to Covenant College (10-15, 2-7 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Brevard scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning and held on to the lead late for a 6-5 victory in game one before coming from behind, scoring three runs in the top of the ninth inning and holding on to an 8-7 win in the rubber match, as BC took two-out-of-three on the weekend.
  • Late Comeback Bid Falls Short for Tornados in Lookout Mountain

    Despite surrendering 13 runs through the first five innings of action, the Brevard College baseball team (14-10, 3-4 USA South) put together a spirited comeback attempt that came up just short, as Covenant College (10-13, 2-5 USAS) held off the Tornados, 14-10 on Friday afternoon in the series opener in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Frankie Vasquez led all Tornado hitters with a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Logan Clark went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while designated hitter Ryan Leiman went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Blake Burchett and Jason Jucker also scored a pair of runs each for the Tornados, who scored a total of 10 runs on 10 hits.
  • Brevard Sets the Tone with 6-3 Win over Piedmont

    Senior shortstop Jason Jucker hit his first career home run as the Brevard College baseball team (14-7, 3–1 USA South) claimed a 6-3 victory over Piedmont University (8-10-1, 0-1 USAS) in a USA South Conference showdown on Friday night at Loudermilk Field in Demorest, Georgia. 
  • Extra Inning Marathons End in DH Split for Brevard

    The Brevard College baseball team (11-6) split a pair of non-conference battles with Pfeiffer University (3-5) on Sunday in Misenheimer, North Carolina. Brevard fell in a nine-inning heartbreaker, 6-5, as the Falcons walked the first game of the doubleheader off. BC was able to bounce back, winning a 10-inning marathon, 3-2, to salvage the series split.
  • Tornados Score Nine Unanswered to Down Spartans, 10-5, at Gil Coan Field
    March 10, 2022
    The Brevard College baseball team (10-5) scored nine unanswered runs and shut out Case Western Reserve University (3-5) over the final five innings to complete a 10-5 comeback victory against the Spartans on Thursday at Gil Coan Field. The Tornados posted a run each in the fourth and fifth innings before scoring three in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-5 advantage. Brevard then broke things open in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring four insurance runs to help wrap up the five-run victory. Logan Clark, an outfielder from St. Petersburg, Florida, went 2-for-4 with two runs, including a three-RBI triple to help seal the win for the Tornados. The three-bagger marked the eighth of the sophomore’s career to make Clark the school’s career triples leader in the NCAA era. Clark was also a force on the base paths for Brevard, stealing a career-high three bases in the win.
  • Tornados Prevail in Slugfest over Averett, 13-10

    The Brevard College baseball team (9-5) won the rubber match of a three-game non-conference set against Averett University (2-11), 13-10, on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. The Tornados scored 13 runs on 19 hits, as Brevard accumulated its second highest hit total of the season and its seventh double-digit hit performance. Everyone in the starting nine for BC had multiple hits in the contest.
  • Tornados Bounce Back Big with 20-2 Win over Pride

    Behind a 16-run stretch in the game's final two innings, the Brevard College baseball team (7-4) claimed a 20-2 victory in the series finale against Greensboro College (2-1) on Sunday afternoon at Truist Point in High Point, North Carolina. Brevard, who exploded offensively in the latter stages of the contest, scored the second-most runs in single-game NCAA-era history (21 at Lincoln Memorial, March 31, 2012) and tied the program high for single-game hits (22 vs. Carson-Newman, March 26, 2010).

    The Brevard College baseball team (4-0) swept its home-opening doubleheader on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field over the visiting Allegheny College Gators (0-2). Brevard earned a 5-0 victory in the first contest - which kicked off when the 14th President of Brevard College Dr. Bradley J Andrews threw out the ceremonial first pitch – before the Tornados came back to secure a 3-2 win in game number two, sweeping the pair of seven-inning contests.
  • Tornados Sweep Doubleheader with Pacers in Cary to Open 2022

    The Brevard College baseball team (2-0) opened it 2022 campaign in emphatic fashion, sweeping a doubleheader against William Peace University (0-2) on Saturday at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. Brevard used a five-run sixth inning in game one and five strong innings from starting pitcher Matthew Scavotto on the way to a 7-3 victory, and exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning of game number two to help clinch the doubleheader sweep with a 10-6 triumph.

  • Falcons Take Midweek Contest

    The Brevard College baseball team (6-8) fell in a midweek contest at Gil Coan Field, 17-3, as the Pfeiffer University Falcons (5-5) evened up the season series on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman outfielder Logan Clark enjoyed a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while Daiquon Davenport, Peter Fumero, and Holden Lanier also logged multi-hit performances against Pfeiffer. Davenport and Lanier each came across to score, while Fumero and Lanier tallied two of BC's three RBI's in the contest. Freshman right-handed pitcher Cameron Cook (0-1) started the first game of his collegiate career, striking out four Falcons in 3.1 innings while retiring the first nine batters that he faced. Bryce Bowers struck out the side in his lone inning of work, as eight different Tornados saw action on the mound.
  • Mars Hill Rallies Late to Down Brevard, Sweep Home-and-Home Series

    A six-run eighth inning proved the decider as the Brevard College baseball team (6-5) fell, 11-7, to Mars Hill University (10-10) in the series finale on Sunday afternoon in Mars Hill, North Carolina. Freshman outfielder Logan Clark led all hitters with a four-hit performance, going 4-for-5 with an RBI-triple, two RBI's, and a run scored. Clark now has four triples hit through his first 11 collegiate games. Zach Allison and Jason Jucker also enjoyed multi-hit performances for the Tornados, with Jucker tallying a 3-for-6 day at the dish while Allison posted a 2-for-5 performance. Senior outfielder Beau Shealy came across to score twice for the Tornados in the series finale.
  • Tornados Sweep Pacers, Extend Win Streak to Six Games

    The Brevard College baseball team (6-2) swept USA South East Division preseason favorite William Peace University (8-5), mercy-ruling the Pacers in game one before using a seven-run sixth inning to cap a comeback victory in the second contest. The pair of victories on Friday afternoon at Gil Coan Field give the Tornados six-consecutive victories, a mark that has only been reached one other time in the NCAA-era – in the 2012 season when the Tornados won 12-straight games – as Brevard's 2021 team has secured the second-longest win streak in the NCAA-era of BC baseball. Brevard scored early and often in the first game of the seven-inning doubleheader set, posting eight runs through the first three innings before exploding for seven runs in the fourth frame to set up the mercy-rule victory. Down 7-2 heading into the sixth inning of game number two, the Tornado offense caught fire, scoring seven runs in a thrilling inning of baseball to take a 9-7 lead. Freshman outfielder Logan Clark drilled an RBI-triple to the opposite field, then scored on a throwing error to give the Tornados their go-ahead lead. Senior right-handed pitcher Jakob Dennis sealed the deal, forcing a double play and a groundout to clinch BC's doubleheader sweep.
