Weather was on the minds of many as games were cancelled across the middle of D3 Nation. Wartburg needed a win and got one from Buena Vista as Iowa missed much of the inclement weather on Tuesday.
Adrian broke or tied four offensive records on Friday and they were not the only ones. Pitt-Greensburg also broke records. Mary Washington, St. Joseph (L.I.), Wartburg and Wilkes all scored 15 or more runs on the day.
Wartburg needed one to tie but got three in the ninth to knock off Albion in Florida. Lynchburg also needed a late run to keep on the winning track on Tuesday.
Wartburg bounced back from a opening season loss with a win over No 10 Webster. Westminster (Mo.) traveled to Kansas to match up with Buena Vista this weekend and finished off a three game sweep with a 10-9 win.

Early in the morning, Dylan Gotto set the Wartburg strikeout record as the Knights swept Bethel in Minneapolis. On the diamonds in Florida, Capital and Hanover earned sweeps while Franklin split with Cabrini.
The Tommies and Knights ended their regular season with each team winning one of two. Both last made the playoff round in 2017 and are long shots to end their playoff droughts. Out east Salve Regina and Shenandoah advanced to their conferences final round.
On baseball diamonds across Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri, the Central Region had a memorable year in 2017. 2018 promises to be equally exciting in all four competitively balanced conferences with no clear favorite to make the trip to the final D-III World Series in Appleton.
Wartburg won the 2017 IIAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, May 13 with a 6-1 victory over Coe. The Knights will represent the IIAC in the NCAA Division III Tournament next weekend at a site to be released late Sunday, May 14.
Jacob hit his 29th career home run to become Wartburg's career home run leader. Plattsburg State and Hamilton ran over their opponents. The Cardinals stole 20 bases in a double dip with Norwich and Continentals sole seven in a single contest with Cazenovia.
NYU fell behind early but recovered to open their season with a win over John Jay on Wednesday. Rose Hulman also earned their first win with a victory over Wartburg in their fourth game of 2017.
Call this the "W" regional. Wartburg, Washington U, and Webster are the odds on favorites to take the Central crown. Last year it was another W that advanced out of the Central Regional, Wisconsin-Whitewater.
The Central doesn’t boast the strongest bracket in the tournament field, with only two of the region’s teams slotting in the D3baseball.com top 25. But that doesn’t mean the field is lacking in quality.

In a contest among Top 25 teams, No. 21 Millsaps shutout No. 4 Birmingham Southern 2-0 on Friday. in other Top 25 matchups, Wartburg took two from Buena Vista and Concordia (Texas) defeated Trinity (Texas).
On Monday, Wartburg ordered the upset special with a 10-7 win over No. 9 Concordia-Chicago. Elsewhere Bridgewater (Va.) and Randolph-Macon stayed undefeated with doubleheader sweeps.
Veteran assistant Matt Schirm was named the new head coach at Central College. Schirm, most recently an assistant at Wartburg College, will replace Adam Stevens.
Ranked teams came away with wins on Friday except for Tufts who fell to Bowdoin in extra innings. Houghton and Wartburg also earned wins over ranked teams, splitting doubleheaders on the day.
