D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its fifth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the fifth Team of the Week of the 2016 season.

Games of March 7-13, 2016

C  Brian Bohman, Jr., Penn St.-Behrend

Bohman hit at a .529 mark (9-for-17) in the opening week of play for the Lions. He hit two home runs, a triple, a double, and drew seven walks. Bohman knocked in 10 runs, scored 10, and stole two bases in three attempts.

1B  Eric Del Prado, So., Willamette

Del Prado batted .600 as he went 6-for-10 with a double, two home runs and two walks. He recorded a 1.300 slugging percentage and a .692 on-base percentage. He scored at least one run in all three games for the Bearcats.

2B  Brian Luebcke, Sr., St. Joseph's (Brkln)

Luebcke batted .526 (10-for-19) and slugged .947 collecting eight RBI, nine runs, a home run, a triple and three doubles leading St. Joseph's to a 4-0 weekend with doubleheader sweeps of CUNYAC foes Staten Island and Lehman. On the mound, the senior also earned his first win of the season with a seven-inning complete game victory over Staten Island where he struck out six, scattered four hits and surrendered just one earned run.

SS  Bobby Shannon, So., Ramapo

Shannon recorded eight hits including two multi-hit games with three hits in the first game against Coe and again against UMass-Dartmouth. He posted his first home run of the season in game two against Coe while he hit .615 with a 1.000 slugging percentage in a 4-0 week for no. 12 Ramapo.

3B  Joe Killian, Sr., Allegheny

Killian batted .800 (8-for-10) with a triple and home run in the opening set for Allegheny. He scored three times and drove in five. Killian's five-hit performance against Fredonia State was his second five-hit game of his career.

OF  Michael DeDonato, So., Endicott

DeDonato posted a .700/.727/1.000 slash line to go along with seven hits (10 at-bats), four runs, one home run, three RBI, one walk, and two stolen bases in a 2-1 week for the Gulls. DeDonato's week was highlighted by his single-game performance in game one of a doubleheader against Franklin & Marshall as the sophomore went 4-for-4 with two runs scored, one home run, three RBI and a stolen base.

OF  Kurtis Kloke, Jr., Pacific (Ore.)

Kloke hit .636 (7-for-11) with five of his hits of the extra base variety in Pacific's weekend sweep of Lewis & Clark. Kloke scored six runs and drove in another ten, posting a 1.545 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage.

OF  Grant Myers, So., Monmouth (Ill.)

Myers hit a robust .769 (10-for-13) in four games last week to help Monmouth post a 4-1 record in the Scot's final five games in Florida. He scored three times and drove in another three.

DH  Devon DeRaad, Jr., Occidental

DeRaad led Occidental to its 10th consecutive win, hitting .500 (6-for-12), with three home runs, two doubles, seven RBIs and a 1.417 slugging percentage in a three-game sweep.

SP  Holden Novak, Sr., Centenary (La.)

Novak tossed his second complete game of the season, tossing only 101 pitches of which 73 which were strikes. He retired the side in order in 5-of-9 innings and only allowed one Austin base runner past second base. With another 10 strikeout performance, he now leads the league in wins (four) and is second in strikeouts (34).

SP  Josh Outsen, Jr., t. Joseph's (L.I.)

Outsen threw his second career no hitter in a 16-0 win over Yeshiva on Friday afternoon. The Farmingdale, NY native tossed seven no-hit innings, striking out nine batters and walking two batters.

SP  Tyler Polasek, Fr., Southwestern (Tex.)

Polasek picked up his first collegiate win on Sunday to help Southwestern salvage a three-game set at fourth-ranked Trinity (Texas). Polasek hurled seven shutout innings and limited the SCAC's top offensive squad to only three hits, all of which were singles. The Pearland, Texas, native also fanned three batters before handing the ball over to the bullpen.

RP  Turner Parry, Sr., Cortland

Parry retired all 11 batters he faced, eight by strikeout, to earn the win in relief as top-ranked Cortland defeated second-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse, 4-3, in 10 innings in Auburndale, Fla. Parry entered with one out and runners on second and third and the game tied at 3-3 in the top of the seventh. He struck out two batters to escape that jam, then retired the side in order in the eighth, ninth and 10th innings (with two strikeouts in each inning) before Cortland won the game in the bottom of the 10th.
