D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its fifth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the eleventh Team of the Week of the 2016 season.

Games of April 18-24, 2016

C  Kyle Hilliard, So., Concordia (Wis.)

Hilliard recorded multiple hits in four of five games and extended his hitting streak to 12 games this week, batting .647 (11-for-17) for the Falcons. The sophomore catcher drove in nine runs and scored three times. He doubled twice and had his best day in a Saturday sweep over Lakeland. Against the Muskies, Hilliard was 6-for-8 over two games with three runs scored and four RBI. 

1B  Charles Savite, Sr., Moravian

Savite helped Moravian to a 3-1 record last week as the Greyhounds clinched their eighth straight postseason appearance. Savite hit .533 for the week (8-for-15) with six runs, three doubles, three homers and eight RBIs for a 1.333 slugging percentage. Savite added three walks and a hit by pitch for a .632 on-base percentage.

2B  Benjamin Bavly, Fr., Brandeis

Bavly led the Judges with nine RBIs, six runs scored and two home runs while hitting .526 (10-for-19) for the week. He hit safely in four wins, with multiple hits in three of them. Both of Bavly's home runs were grand slams. He handled 29 chances without an error.

SS  Ryan Dorow, Jr., Adrian

Dorow extended his hitting streak to 21 games while helping Adrian to a 4-1 week with a slashline of .556/.650/.833. He tied for the team lead with eight runs batted in, scored six times and hit his MIAA-leading eighth home run of the season to move within two of tying the Bulldogs' career record of 25.

3B  Brian Minks, Jr., St. Scholastica

In four games last week, Minks was 10-for-19 (.526) at the plate with three home runs, three doubles, 14 RBIs and eight runs scored. He hit two home runs in CSS' 11-run ninth inning to complete the sweep of Martin Luther on Saturday, the first known Saint accomplish that feat.

OF  Willie Doll, Sr., Saint Mary's (Minn.)

Doll batted .733 (11-for-15) with five extra-base hits (double, two triples, and two home runs). He scored ten runs with five RBIs. Doll stole six bases on six attempts giving him 21 steals for the season.

OF  Luis Navedo, Jr., La Roche

Navedo had one of the best week's in school history hitting .538 (7-for-13) with eight runs and eight RBIs. He hit a double and four home runs for a 1.538 slugging percentage. With six walks, Navedo racked up a .700 on-base percentage

OF  Mark Webber, So., Babson

Webber had a big week batting .556 (15-for-27) with five doubles, two triples, a home run, 10 runs scored and 16 RBI to go along with a .600 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage as the Beavers won six of seven games. He hit safely in all seven contests with five multi-hit games.  

DH  Seth Douglas, Jr., SUNY-Canton

Douglas had a monster week going 11-for-18 (.611) at the plate while driving in 12 runs and scoring three times. He hit a pair of home runs upping his season total to six and upped his season RBI total from 24 to 36.  

SP  Terry Engels, Jr., St. John Fisher

Engels pitched a no-hitter in a 4-1 win over Stevens on Saturday. The Junior struck out five batters in seven innings of action and only allowed one run on a fielding error.  

SP  Dylan Gausman, Jr., Concordia (Wis.)

Gausman threw a no-hitter, the first for the Falcons since 2004, in a 4-0 win over Maranatha Baptist on Friday. The junior struck out a career-best 11 hits, while facing just two over the minimum. The two Sabercats who reached first did so via a walk and an error.  

SP  Ryan Orr, So., Kalamazoo

Orr threw a no-hitter in a 2-0 win at Olivet on Saturday. Orr struck out nine while walking none and throwing only 67 pitches. He faced the minimum number of batters as only one reached on an error and was quickly retired trying to steal.

SP  Vince Santarsiero, Jr., Fontbonne

Santarsiero has a seven inning no-hitter for the Griffins on Saturday. He struckout seven and walked two batters in the 5-0 win over Eureka.

RP  Garrett Brown, Sr., Pacific Lutheran

Brown picked up three saves during the Northwest Conference Tournament, helping lead the Lutes to the NWC title and AQ into the NCAA Division III regionals. He pitched a solid 8 innings over three days only allowing seven hits with six strikeouts.
