Lawrence University got some late inning heroics in both games Tuesday to sweep a Midwest Conference doubleheader from the University of Chicago at J. Kyle Anderson Field. Lawrence took the opener 8-3 and downed the Maroons 5-4 in the nightcap. In the first game, Spenser Ross went 3-for-3 and scored a pair of runs to pace Lawrence's 13-hit attack. Zach Leslie went 2-for-2 and drove in two runs for the Vikings, and Ethan Plantz was 2-for-3. In the second game, Lawrence scored in three of the last four innings to grab the victory.

St. Norbert College rallied from deficits in both games and went on to post an important sweep of Ripon College by scores of 7-4 and 9-8 in 10 innings in a feisty Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader between the longtime archrivals at Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.
St. Norbert trailed early in the opener before scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the win, and then was able to tie the second game with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning after a misplayed foul popup by Ripon kept the Green Knights alive.

Junior Bryan McGrath ripped a two-run double off the third base bag to ignite a five-run eighth inning rally as Plymouth State University salvaged a split with Castleton University in a doubleheader at Parish Field on Tuesday. In a back-and-forth game two, Castleton’s two-run homer gave the visitors an 8-7 lead in the top of the eighth, but McGrath’s double put the Panthers back in front and PSU tacked on three more runs in the inning before holding off a Spartans’ rally in the ninth to take game two, 12-11. Earlier in the day Castleton snapped an 11-11 tie with three runs in the top of the ninth to take the opener, a Little East Conference (LEC) game, 14-11. The two teams will play another double header in Vermont in two weeks where only the first game will count in the conference standings. After averaging 2.53 runs per game through the first five games of the year, Plymouth State’s offense has come alive of late, scoring 10+ runs in each of the last five contests. With the split the Panthers move to 5-5 (1-4 LEC), while Castleton ends the day at 6-6 (4-1 LEC).
DeSales University tied the record for most consecutive wins recording its 14th straight victory, 7-5, over York College (PA) on Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs tie the mark set by the 2005 team and will get a chance to break the record tomorrow afternoon in game one of its doubleheader with Arcadia University. It didn't look good early in this one as DeSales fell behind 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning but the Bulldogs took the lead for good in the fifth, adding an insurance run in the seventh. Senior Ian Kacergis earned the win pitching six strong allowing four runs and striking out four. Junior JJ Paul picked up his third save of the year with a perfect ninth inning, fanning two.
UW-La Crosse earned a doubleheader sweep at UW-Platteville Tuesday afternoon at Kendall Murray Field. The Eagles won the opener, 11-1, and the nightcap, 10-6 to extend their winning streak to six. UWL improves to 12-4 overall while UW-Platteville drops to 8-8. The Eagles have scored at least 10 runs in all six victories. It marks the first time in school history UWL has scored at least 10 runs in six consecutive games. Four UWL pitchers combined to hold UW-Platteville to two hits in Tuesday's opener. Jack Perinovic (1-0) earned the win, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out nine. He did not allow a hit until one out in the bottom of the sixth. Will Monroe (one hit, one unearned run, one strikeout), Chris Seveska (one strikeout) and Jack Durst (one walk, two strikeouts) each pitched 1.0 inning in relief.
Mount Aloysius continued their strong start to AMCC play, by improving to 4-0, adding two victories on Tuesday, at Pitt-Greensburg. Their offense produced 26 runs, on the day, winning 9-7 in Game One and 17-9 in Game Two. Both Troy Emert and Brayden Lackey drove in six runs on the day. Lackey drove in four in Game One, while Emert drove in four in the back end of the doubleheader. Each of the two Mountie starters made it into the sixth inning, with Dylan Coyle getting through 5.1 innings and Creek Miller getting through six full innings, in Game Two. Mount Aloysius produced their highest run total, in a single-game this season, in Game Two, as they scored 17 runs. They had scored 15 runs on two previous occasions, this spring.
On the road in their final weekday contests of the season, East Texas Baptist University swept NAIA program Jarvis Christian College in a pair of seven-inning contest, 17-9, and 7-4. The two wins give ETBU a 20-11 record and now have posted 20+ wins in six of the last seven seasons. Overpowering from the opening pitch, the Tigers offense propelled themselves to a 17-9 win in game one. Zachary McAdams recorded a three-hit, three-RBI game, which included a solo home run. Christopher Robinson was one of four Tigers with two hits while leading ETBU with four RBI. Jake Miller (RBI), Austin Barry (three RBI), and and Christopher Shay (RBI) also had two hits in the game. Cole Codkin allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts for the win. ETBU would hang on to a 7-4 win in the second game. While Will Kelley recorded a three-hit game, both Sayers Collins and Christopher Shay drove in three RBI and two hits each. Jacob Sherman picked up the win with four no-hit innings to start the game with five strikeouts and two walks. Daniel Rubio earned the save allowing one hit in the final inning of the game.
After a frustrating doubleheader split on Saturday, and then waiting through a pair of canceled dates leading into the new week, Otterbein finally got back on the baseball diamond Tuesday afternoon with a single road game at Wilmington. The Cardinals fell behind early, but erupted for a huge fourth inning to fly ahead and never look back. By the final out of the ninth inning, Otterbein walked away with a comfortable 15-6 victory. Otterbein had 17 hits collectively and walked another nine times in the game. Sprowls went 3 for 6 with four RBI (all in that one inning) while five other teammates also had multi-hit outings. Catcher Adam Stotler walked four times. Senior Ethan Doty (2-1) picked up another pitching victory with 3.2 strong innings during the middle portion of the contest. Nick Meyer and Nicky Zorne helped carry it the remainder of the way.
The University of Southern Maine Huskies scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons 7-5 in a Little East Conference baseball game Tuesday afternoon at Monan Park. The win was the second straight for the Huskies, and improved their record to 12-6 overall and 4-3 in Little East play. The game was the season opener for the Beacons. USM took advantage of two UMB errors and a wild pitch in the ninth to score twice. With one out, senior Andrew Olszak eached on an infield error, and advanced to second on a single through the right side from freshman Cam Seymour.
Senior third baseman Luke Broadhurst drove in five runs and senior first baseman Holden White broke the program game record with four doubles as the Eastern Connecticut State University baseball team remained the only unbeaten team in the Little East Conference with a 19-3, seven-inning victory over Keene State College Tuesday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complex. Eastern (16-2, 9-0 LEC) collected 21 hits -- eight of them for extra bases -- off six Keene (2-8, 1-4 LEC) pitchers. Leading 8-3, Eastern sent 14 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored nine runs on six hits and four walks off four Keene pitchers. Six Eastern batters recorded at least two hits. Broadhurst had two-run singles in a four-run first and the nine-run fifth and also plated a run with a single in the second. Sophomore Thomas Acevedo replaced Broadhurst late in the game at third and smacked his first career home run, driving in his first career run with a one-out home run in the sixth. Holden became the first player in program history to hit four doubles in a game in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth. He scored twice and drove in a run with his four hits. Freshman second baseman Chris Malcom drove in his first collegiate run with a single in the sixth.

Elizabethtown College split with Juniata, 10-6 and 7-6, Tuesday afternoon in Landmark Conference action. With the split, the Blue Jays and Eagles are both now 6-6 overall and in league play. Junior James Vito finished the day 4-8 with two runs scored and four RBI. Classmate Nathaniel Barnes registered two hits while tallying two RBI and a run scored. Freshman Garrett Schwartzbeck notched two RBI and a run scored and junior Tyler McGonigle scratched out five hits, a double, four RBI, and two runs scored.
Senior second baseman Luke Johnson belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to break a 6-6 tie and help Saint Joseph's College (13-10) defeat Fisher College, 10-6, in a non-conference baseball game at Larry Mahaney Diamond on Tuesday evening. With runners on second and third and two out, the Falcons called on lefthander Fernando Ortiz (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) to face Johnson, a lefthanded hitter, but the tactic failed as the senior second sacker roped a blast down the right field line that wrapped around the foul pole for his first career home run. St. Joe's tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when Richardson sent freshman pinch runner Ryan Tessier.
The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs posted their 10th win in their last 12 played in a 12-3 non-conference victory Tuesday night over Mary Hardin-Baylor. At TLU's Katt-Isbel Field, Randy Huerta homered, went 3-for-4, and drove in three. Huerta, the Bulldogs' third baseman, hit a two-run home run to right field in the sixth and had an RBI single in the seventh. Alex Cornman walked four times, and Motsinger was issued three walks. Collin Docker also walked three times. UMHB pitching walked 14 Bulldogs. Jonathan Hampton, a freshman right-hander in his first varsity appearance, picked up the victory with two scoreless innings to start the game. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.
The Bulldogs used seven different pitchers for the mid-week game. Blade Strzelczyk struck out the side in the ninth.
Wells College extended its win streak to three games before dropping the matinee matchup of a doubleheader with visiting Lancaster Bible College for a split on Tuesday. Dylan Nolan homered twice in the opening game to lead the way in a 13-4 win. Wells carried the momentum into the second game after Max Odum homered to give Wells the lead after three innings, but the Chargers rallied to take the second game by a 6-1 score.
Freshman pitcher Terry Murray pitched seven strong innings, allowing two hits and two runs, while striking out three batters, as the Rhode Island College baseball team defeated UMass Dartmouth, 4-3, in Little East action played at Pontarelli Field on Tuesday afternoon. RIC senior third baseman Ray Zincone went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Junior right fielder Nick D'Ambra went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Murray earned his first win (1-1).
