D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its eleventh season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the fifth Team of the Week of the 2022 season.

Games of March 7-13, 2022

Isaac Lovings, So., Pacific

Lovings had an outstanding weekend at the plate, going 10-for-16 (.625) with three home runs and three doubles to lead Pacific to a three-game sweep over Whitworth. The catcher had 22 total bases over the three games, scoring eight runs and racking up five RBI. He hit two home runs in the series opener and mashed another in game two. Lovings was also flawless behind the plate, throwing out the one runner who attempted to steal.

1B  Peter Cosentino, Sr., Montclair St.

Cosentino batted .583 with 7 hits (12 at-bats) and 6 extra-base hits in a 3-0 week for the Red Hawks. He slugged four doubles and two home runs to go along with six runs and 13 RBIs. He was perfect in 14 chances in the week.

2B  Aidan Blake, Jr., Mass.-Boston

Blake led the Beacons to a 4-0 start following a .615 average (8-for-13) and a 1.308 slugging percentage (two doubles, two triples, one home run). He scored seven runs and drove in five. He posted an on-base percentage of .688 and had one stolen base.

SS  Joe Jimenez, Jr., Texas Lutheran

Jimenez's career-year continued with a monster week hitting six home runs and tallying 19 RBIs on a .647 average (11-for-17) and slugging 1.824 for the week. He matched a school record with three home runs in a game on Saturday.

3B  Brian Amantia, Sr., Cairn

Amantia went a combined 11-for-21 (.524) with ten runs scored and 13 RBIs. He blasted two doubles, three triples and two home runs for a 1.190 slugging percentage of 1.500. He added two four walks and two stolen bases.

OF  Justin Bowers, Jr., Christopher Newport

Bowers reached base at a .737 clip this week with seven hits and seven walks in 19 plate appearances. He slugged 1.250 with a pair of home runs and two doubles, driving in seven runs and scored eight times. Bowers was perfect in the field with nine total chances including an outfield assist.

OF  Henry Delavergne, Sr., Shenandoah

Delavergne  batted .800 (8-for-10) over two ODAC games. He slugged 1.500 with a double and two home run. He drove in six and scored five in a Sunday doubleheader.

OF  Oli Sellman, Jr., Chapman

Sellman helped Chapman to a 4-0 week and was 10-for-16 at the plate (.625), notching seven runs scored to go along with five doubles, and seven RBIs. The infielder also registered eight putouts in eight chances and logged a .938 slugging percentage, and a .647 on-base percentage.

OF  Andrew Steidle, Sr., King's (Pa.)

Steidle went 9-for-17 with a .529 batting average, with three doubles, a triple, a home run, and two walks. He also added seven runs and nine RBIs with a .571 on-base percentage and .941 slugging percentage.

DH  Zach Boyd, Sr., Marietta

Boyd led the Pioneers to a 7-1 week in Florida including wins over #4 North Central and #8 Webster. He batted .500 (10-for-20) with 13 RBIs and six runs scored. He had five extra-base hits (two doubles, triple, and two home runs).

SP  Tucker Alch, Jr., Catholic

Alch pitched his second complete game in four starts this season, allowing just one hit over 7.0 innings while striking out a career-high 12 in a 7-0 victory over Ursinus. He did not allow a walk en route to posting his 11th win and sixth complete game in 15 career starts.

SP  Mike Schiattarella, Sr., Stockton

Schiattarella tossed a perfect game with 14 strikeouts. Schiattarella was dominant as he struck out the first eight batters that he faced and later closed the door by fanning six of the last nine in facing the minimum 21 hitters. The perfect game was the first-ever by an Osprey.

SP  Zach Slome, Fr., Concordia Wisconsin

Slome threw a no-hitter performance against Bethany Lutheran with 10 strikeouts. He walked two batters.

SP  Ethan Sund, Sr., North Park

Sund defeated No. 9 Texas-Dallas, allowing one hit and three walks in a complete game performance. Sund's 16-strikeout game is good for second all-time for the NPU program.

RP  Noah Ferguson, Jr., Pacific Lutheran

Ferguson made two appearances and earned two saves in the Lutes' two game road sweep of 20th ranked Cal Lu. Ferguson allowed no hits and just one walk in two innings of work between the two games, striking out four.

RP  Sam Matthews, Sr., Marietta

Matthews pitched in 4 games going 1-0 with 2 saves. He allowed two hits and a walk in 8.1 innings of relief work. He struckout nine.
