D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its eleventh season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the sixth Team of the Week of the 2022 season.

Games of March 14-20, 2022

C  Jorden Jurkiewicz, So., Montclair St.

Jurkiewicz went 13-for-26 (.500) on the week. He had six extra base hits (two doubles, triple, three home runs) as he slugged 1.000. He scored 10 runs and drove in nine in six games. Jurkiewicz stole five bases. He hit for the cycle in the second game against Manhattanville on Sunday.

1B  Mike Khoury, Gr., Brandeis

Khoury was unstoppable for the Judges in a 4-0 week, batting 13-for-17 with three walks, three doubles, five home runs, 13 runs scored and 13 RBI, giving him a .765 BA, .810 OBP and 1.824 SLG. With his five homers, Khoury moved into a tie for third on Brandeis's career home run list with 24. He also moved into Brandeis's career top-10 in runs scored and RBI.

2B  John Riviere-Vejas, Fr., Hilbert

Riviere-Vejas had a monumental week, swiping an astonishing nine bases in just four games. Rivière-Vejas was equally as impressive at the plate logging nine hits in 13 at-bats, including a pair of doubles, to finish the week with a .692 batting average and .765 on base percentage. In addition, the Brooklyn native scored eight runs and drove in two more to lead the Hawks to wins over Geneva and Sage.

SS  Nick Terrell, Sr., Ripon

Terrell was 12-for-19 (.632) with seven RBI and five runs scored during Ripon's five games. He recorded at least one hit in each game with eight of his 12 hits going for extra bases, six doubles and two home runs. Carrying a slugging percentage of 1.263 during the week, Terrell also swiped two bases and drew a pair of walks, while handling 20 chances at shortstop without committing an error.

3B  Tommy Moore, Sr., FDU-Florham

Moore guided the Devils to a three game sweep of Delaware Valley over the weekend to open MAC Freedom play. In the weekend set, Moore batted .727 (8-for-11), hit three home runs, posted nine RBI, scored seven runs and drew a pair of walks.

OF  Cameron Allen, Sr., DePauw

Allen batted .800 (8-for-10) over two games. He slugged 1.100 with three doubles. He drove in six and scored four in a Sunday doubleheader.

OF  Jack Layrisson, Sr., LaGrange

Layrisson went a combined 9-for-13 (.692) with a .688 on-base percentage, and a 1.462 slugging percentage to go along with seven runs scored, ten RBI, three doubles, two triples, one home run, two walks, and one stolen base as the Panthers swept a three-game series from USA South foe Berea last week.

OF  Evan Maday, Sr., Hope

Maday went 14-for-21 (.667) with five extra-base hits (three doubles and two triples) becoming Hope's all-time hits leader in the process. He contributed nine RBI, eight runs scored and stole at least one base in four of five games.

OF  Ricky Voss, Sr., New Jersey City

Voss finished a four-game span with a .733 batting average (11-for-15), including seven extra-base hits (two doubles, a triple, two home runs) after nearly hitting for the cycle on Friday and Saturday. Voss notched 12 RBI and scored 10 runs of his own. He also drew four walks, was hit by a pitch and was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts.

DH  Jase Jones, Sr., East Texas Baptist

Jones had a career weekend with a 1.250 slugging percentage, three home runs, nine RBI, and 15 total bases with one sac fly in helping ETBU to two wins over McMurry. He batted .500 (6-for-12) in the three games.

SP  Kieren Collins, Jr., Johns Hopkins

Collins pitched the eighth no-hitter in JHU history in a 10-0 win over Ramapo. Collins went the full seven innings and struck out eight without allowing a walk in the complete-game gem. The first Ramapo batter of the game reached on an error and then Collins set down the remaining 21 batters in the victory.

SP  Brandon Girod, So., Hardin-Simmons

Girod tossed a 3-hit shutout over nine innings in the Cowboys 2-0 win over LeTourneau. He allowed one walk and struck out a career-best eight batters.

SP  Collin Kiernan, Sr., Kean

Kiernan tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just two singles and just one batter over the minimum. He struck out 11 and carried a perfect game through 6 innings.

SP  Kiefer Lord, So., Carleton

Lord tossed another 8.0 shutout frames over a pair of outings last week, collecting 12 strikeouts with only two hits allowed with one walk. He began Carleton's trip to Southern California with a 1-2-3 inning - including two strikeouts - on 3/18 at Caltech, on what would normally have been a bullpen day for the right-hander. Lord followed that up with a spectacular outing at No. 21-ranked Chapman on Sunday, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts as he yielded only two singles and a walk. He left the game with Carleton leading 1-0 in an eventual 3-1 loss.

RP  Wes Hamor, Fr., Central (Iowa)

In his first Central games, Hamor picked up a three-inning save while striking out six of the nine batters he faced against Knox in a 9-3 win. He came Friday against SUNY-Poly to pick up the win after pitching the final two innings before a Central walk-off in the bottom of the seventh.
