D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its eleventh season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the fourth Team of the Week of the 2022 season.

Games of February 28-March 6, 2022

Rob Marinec, Sr., North Central (Ill.)

Marinec hit .667 (6-for-9) on Saturday in North Central's doubleheader sweep of Ripon, slugging 1.667. He had six RBI, with four runs scored, with two home runs and three doubles against the Red Hawks.

1B  Tyler Smitherman, Anderson (Ind.)

Anderson was part of a three-game sweep against St. Norbert. Smitherman went 8-for-15 (.533) with one double, two home runs and 11 RBI.

2B  Ryan Enos, Jr., Oswego State

Enos batted .600 (9-for-15) with five extra-base hits (two doubles, and three home runs). He scored eight runs and drove in seven.  Enos broke three Oswego State records in one game against Keystone with five runs scored, three home runs and and six hits.

SS  Ryan Dominick, Sr., Wisconsin Lutheran

Batting out of the leadoff spot, Dominick was retired just once in a pair of games against Lawrence, batting .875 (7-for-8) He hit four homers for a 2.375 slugging percentage while driving in five and scoring four runs.

3B  Brian Baranok, So., Ramapo

Baranok led the Roadrunners this weekend in their opening day sweep as he went a combined 6-6 (1.000) with five runs scored and seven RBI. He blasted three doubles and posted a slugging perecentage of 1.500. He was perfect in the field with three assists while he added two walks.

OF  Dominick Bayo, Sr., Wilkes

Bayo had a strong week as the Colonels went 3-0. The graduate student went 7-for-10 for a .700 batting average while scoring eight runs and driving in three runs. He recorded three doubles and a triple to go along with two walks, a hit by pitch and a stolen base. Bayo had a .769 on-base percentage and a 1.200 slugging percentage.

OF  Blake Bean, Sr., Kalamazoo

Bean assisted Kalamazoo to four wins at Manchester over the weekend, while setting the Kalamazoo school records for both home runs in a game (3) and RBIs in a game (8). Over the week, Bean slashed .643/.700/1.714 while totaling 14 at bats, 12 runs, nine hits, three doubles, four home runs, 16 RBIs, and three stolen bases.

OF  John McNair, Sr., Rhodes

McNair hit .600 (9-for-15) in the SAA conference season opening weekend against Oglethorpe. He slugged 1.082 with two doubles and two home runs. Over the weekend he scored four runs and drove in nine.

OF  Sam Pitre, Jr., Millsaps

Pitre finished the weekend 8-for-11 (.727) with a home run in each of the three games becoming the first Major to homer in three consecutive contests during the SAA era. Pitre totaled eight RBIs, five runs and one walk as Millsaps won two of three over Centre.

OF  Gabe Stacy, Gr., Wittenberg

Stacy opened the season with a slashline of .750/.818/1.750. Of his six hits in eight at-bats, he had three doubles, a triple and a home run. He scored three times and drove in four.

DH  Justin Costanzo, Jr., Widener

Costanzo batted .714 (5-for-7) as Widener went 2-1 in the week. He scored four times with five RBIs. He had a 1.714 slugging percentage with a double and two home runs.

SP  Caleb Buehrle, Sr., Millikin

Buehrle pitched a complete game shutout in Millikin's 3-0 victory against UW-Oshkosh on Friday as he scattered four hits (all singles), and struck out 12 batters, while allowing just one walk.

SP  Davis Pasco, Jr., Loras

Pasco got the Duhawks' week started on Tuesday by grabbing the nation by storm, defeating the University of Iowa Hawkeyes 3-1. This was the second time in 17 meetings against the Hawkeyes that Duhawks came out on top. The junior led the way on the mound, getting the start and throwing 6.2 scoreless innings. Facing 29 batters, Pasco held the Hawkeyes to just five hits while only allowing two walks and striking out three.

SP  Dominic Perachi, Jr., Salve Regina

The junior lefty started the Seahawks' season, with an "Immaculate Inning" by throwing nine pitches for nine strikes and three outs in the top of the first. He struck out 16 batters and allowed just an single infield base hit to the Wildcats while leading Seahawks to 7-0 victory on opening day.

SP  Billy Oldham, Jr., Eastern Conn. State

Oldham was near-perfect over his seven innings of work in the ninth-ranked Warriors 5-0 season-opening win over Hood, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning 14 of the 21 batters he faced. The 14 Ks are a career-high for the junior.

RP  William Kennedy, Jr., Oberlin

Kennedy earned his first-career save in Oberlin's game-two win over Berea, tossing three perfect innings in relief and striking out six of the nine batters he faced. The southpaw needed just 32 pitches to record the final nine outs in the victory.

RP  Kyle Sulkowski, Sr., Emory

Sulkowski made three relief appearances this weekend, slamming the door on the Scots in all three games in the series as Emory swept Maryville. Sulkowski did not allow a hit across his 3.2 innings, allowing just a walk and HBP as he recorded a pair of saves and struck out seven of the 12 batters he faced.
