    GRINNELL, Iowa - The Ripon College baseball team received six All-Conference selections Thursday afternoon, which is more than any other team in the Midwest Conference. Michael Polcyn and Marshall Zahn were named MWC North Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, for the second consecutive year, while pitcher Patrick Van Daalwyk, outfielder Dakotah Kirchenwitz, and infielders Nick Schmitt and Nick Kita also earned a spot on the All-Conference Team after leading the Red Hawks to their third consecutive 14-2 conference record.

    A legend has passed. Gordie Gillespie, who retired from coaching in 2010 as college baseball's all-time winningest coach, died Saturday night at the age of 88, after a long illness. A 2008 Ripon College Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Gordie spent 59 years as a college baseball coach, compiling 1,893 career victories. Two hundred thirty-nine of those came in his 10 years as the head coach for Ripon College.

Entering his final season as head coach, Gillespie has compiled a combined coaching record of 852-517-3 in basketball and baseball.
