The Thunder swept the Cardinals as the hosts convincingly won the first game 10-6 and the hosts won the second game 6-5. Wheaton has now its last four games.

    Carol Stream, Ill. - Playing its first game at Lee Pfund Stadium in 672 days, the Thunder baseball team opened up its 2021 season with a 6-0 victory over Ripon College on Friday night. With the victory, the Thunder recorded the 1,000th win in program history. Wheaton now has a winning stroke of three straight wins in season openers. The Thunder will continue their weekend on Saturday with an 11 am game against Elmhurst before wrapping up the weekend at 5 pm against St. Norbert.

Wheaton pushed across runs in the seventh and eighth innings to improve to 6-4 this season. The Cardinals fall to 4-8 on the season. Wheaton will host two more games on Saturday night, facing Alma College at 2 pm and Aurora University at 5 pm.

Tasked with extended innings, the Thunder bullpen threw 9.1 innings of scoreless relief to hold the Titans to just seven hits after the second inning. With the victory, Wheaton is now 22-15 on the year and 12-9 in CCIW play. Illinois Wesleyan falls to 20-16 overall and 13-9 in the CCIW.     Carol Stream, Ill. - A back and forth ballgame went Wheaton's way on Tuesday night under the lights at Lee Pfund Stadium. Johnny Peltz capped a come from behind effort with a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth inning to give Wheaton a 6-5 victory in the first of a key three-game CCIW series against the Red Men. Wheaton won its fourth straight game to improve to 16-10 overall and 6-4 in the CCIW. Carthage had its four-game winning streak snapped, falling to 12-10 overall and 5-4 in conference action. The two games will conclude their three-game series on Saturday with a 1 pm doubleheader in Kenosha. Wheaton will next be in action on Friday when the Thunder host Carroll for a 1 pm doubleheader at Lee Pfund Stadium.

Wheaton (8-3) extended its win-streak to six games with a 5-3 victory against the Cardinals. Saint Mary’s (8-4) opened the tournament with a 10-0 victory against Aurora and Aurora (10-2) earned an 8-5 win against Calvin (0-4) in the second game.

Wheaton will now return to Lee Pfund Stadium for its home opener on Friday, March 17, when the Thunder host Saint Mary's (Minn.) in the first of a seven-game home stand.

Wheaton rallied from an early 2-0 deficit with a five-run third inning and iced the victory with a four-run ninth inning to improve to 1-2 on the season. The Pirates fell to 3-3 with the loss.
