Carol Stream, Ill. – The Wheaton baseball team hosted North Central College for a CCIW doubleheader at Lee Pfund Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Thunder swept the Cardinals as the hosts convincingly won the first game 10-6 and the hosts won the second game 6-5. Wheaton has now its last four games.
Taking both games of the doubleheader against Wheaton (Ill.) on Saturday, North Central completed the four-game season sweep of the Thunder with wins of 11-10 and 8-4 on a blistery afternoon at Zimmerman Stadium.
Wheaton (Ill.), winners of three straight openers, won the program's 1000th game on Friday with a 6-0 win over Ripon. Elsewhere, the ASC dominated the schedule with half of the games on tap.

With the victory, the Thunder recorded the 1,000th win in program history. Wheaton now has a winning stroke of three straight wins in season openers. The Thunder will continue their weekend on Saturday with an 11 am game against Elmhurst before wrapping up the weekend at 5 pm against St. Norbert.
Joel Pierce helped Wheaton (Ill.) to a 2-1 record against CCIW rival Illinois Wesleyan and was named NCBWA Rookie of the week for his efforts. He joins Chris Fowler and Matt D’Ambrosia on the weekly NCWBA honor role.

Johnny Peltz capped a come from behind effort with a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth inning to give Wheaton a 6-5 victory in the first of a key three-game CCIW series against the Red Men. Wheaton won its fourth straight game to improve to 16-10 overall and 6-4 in the CCIW. Carthage had its four-game winning streak snapped, falling to 12-10 overall and 5-4 in conference action. The two games will conclude their three-game series on Saturday with a 1 pm doubleheader in Kenosha. Wheaton will next be in action on Friday when the Thunder host Carroll for a 1 pm doubleheader at Lee Pfund Stadium.
Carol Stream, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder baseball team opened the home portion of its 2017 season on Friday with a game against Saint Mary’s (Minn.) in the opening day of the Wheaton Round Robin tournament. Wheaton (8-3) extended its win-streak to six games with a 5-3 victory against the Cardinals. Saint Mary’s (8-4) opened the tournament with a 10-0 victory against Aurora and Aurora (10-2) earned an 8-5 win against Calvin (0-4) in the second game.
North Port, Fla. - The Thunder baseball team concluded a successful spring trip on Saturday afternoon with a 9-1 victory over John Carroll University. Wheaton finishes the trip riding a five-game winning streak and holding a 7-3 overall record. John Carroll is now 4-7. Wheaton will now return to Lee Pfund Stadium for its home opener on Friday, March 17, when the Thunder host Saint Mary's (Minn.) in the first of a seven-game home stand.
Punta Gorda, Fla. - The Thunder bats came alive in a big way on Friday afternoon, powering the Thunder baseball team to a doubleheader sweep over Moravian College and Bluffton University. Wheaton has now won its last four games and will conclude its spring trip tomorrow morning against John Carroll University at 10 PM (EST). Wheaton and Bluffton are each 6-3 on the season.

Port Charlotte, Fla. - The Thunder baseball team earned a 5-4 victory over Baldwin Wallace on Monday afternoon at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida. Wheaton is now 3-3 on the season while the Yellow Jackets fall to 8-1 overall. Wheaton will continue its spring trip on Tuesday with a rematch against Heidelberg University at 12 pm (EST).

With the victory Wheaton moves to 4-3 on the season including 3-1 on its current trip. Aurora falls to 3-4. Jackson, Miss. – The Thunder baseball team recorded its first win of the young season on Saturday afternoon with an 11-6 victory over the Southwestern University Pirates. Wheaton rallied from an early 2-0 deficit with a five-run third inning and iced the victory with a four-run ninth inning to improve to 1-2 on the season. The Pirates fell to 3-3 with the loss.
AJ Konopaski, Pacific Lutheran set a saves record while Trey Martin, Wheaton (Ill.) extended his scoreless innings streak to 29. Both joined the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for the week ending April 20.
