D3baseball.com Team of the Week

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its third season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the fourth Team of the Week of the 2014 season.

Games of March 3-9, 2014

C  Nick Flemister, Sr., St. John Fisher

Flemister was 10-for-11 (.909) with four doubles, six RBI, and six runs scored. He had 12 consecutive hits over the week+ with at least two in each game.

1B  Jeff Gray, Jr., Hampden-Sydney

Gray batted .556 (5-for-9) on the week while collecting two extra-base hits, a double and one home run. He also batted in two runs while scoring three of his own.

2B  Drew Kammerer, So., Franklin

Drew Kammerer batted .556 (5-for-9) with two doubles and had five runs batted in during Franklin's three-game series sweep of Albion. He also scored two runs and had a stolen base. Kammerer also helped the Grizzlies defensively with errorless play in the field.

SS  Billy Steel, Sr., Chris. Newport

Steel completed a perfect week defensively for the Captains. Offensively, he was 5-for-9 (.556) with five free passes (3 walks, 2 HBP), reaching base ten times in 14 plate appearances (.714 OBP). Steel had three extra-base hits, a double and two home runs.

3B  Ryan Luke, Jr., Moravian

Luke helped Moravian to a 2-2 record at the Snowbird Classic with a .562 average. He was 9-for-16 at the plate over the four games with five runs, four doubles, eight RBIs, a .611 on-base percentage and an .812 slugging percentage.

OF  Brett Lake, Jr., Emory

Lake batted .667 (6-for-9) on the week with two extra-base hits (1.111 Slg%). He scored three runs, drove in six, and stole two bases. Lake currently has a 16-game hitting streak, dating back to the 2013 campaign.

OF  Andrew Carbajal, Sr., Chapman

Carbajal compiled 15 hits in 25 at-bats (.600) on the week, extending his hitting streak to 18 games. He totaled two doubles, eight runs scored, two RBI and three walks in the week's six games.

OF  Ben Podobinski, Sr., St. Thomas (Minn.)

Podobinski  helped the No. 9-ranked Tommies go 3-1 on the weekend as he batted .588 (10-of-17) with nine runs, six RBI, three triples and one double with three SBs and no errors in eight chances.

DH   Robbie Rushing, Sr., Central (Iowa)

Rushing batted .615 (8-for-13) and drove in six runs for the Dutch. With two doubles and two home runs, Rushing compiled a 1.231 slugging percentage. He score three runs.

SP  Brett Marcom, Fr., Southwestern (Tex.)

Marcom, threw a no-hitter for the Pirates on Saturday. He walked two batters and struck out five in the seven inning complete game.

SP  Spencer Ramsey, Fr., North Carolina Wesleyan

Ramsey earned a complete-game, seven-inning, shutout win in his only appearance on the mound for the Bishops last week, a 5-0 victory over Mitchell. Ramsey went the distance and allowed just one hit with four strikeouts.

SP  Andy Sadoski, Sr., Bridgewater St.

Sadoski tossed a no-hitter, the seventh in program history, in the Bears' first game of the season, a 2-0 win over the Apprentice School. Sadoski, who fanned two in the game, retired the first nine batters he faced before a error opened the fourth inning. Sadoski would retire the side in order in each of the final three innings to complete the no-hitter.

RP  Ethan Catalani, Sr., Schreiner

Catalani allowed just two hits and one walk  over 11 innings in two relief appearances for Schreiner. He struck out a dozen batters.
