Catholic senior Cid Porter matched a career-high four hits and had two RBIs in the Cardinals' 7-4 win over Penn St. Berks on Sunday afternoon at the Ripken Experience. Catholic (7-5) rallied to score five runs in the game's last three innings to win its second-straight win. Porter, who went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, posted the third four-hit game of his career. Sunday's feat almost matched a previous performance against the Nittany Lions just over two years ago, when he went 4-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored in a 9-4 win over Penn State Berks on March 5, 2018.

Wesley faed St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) in a doubleheader on the campus of Wesley at Bob Reed Field in Dover, Delaware. Game one was a high-scoring affair that saw 22 total runs scored as the Wolverines took the game, 12-10. The day's second contest was also closely contested as SJC took an early lead but Wesley completed the comeback and the sweep with a 3-1 win.
Elmhurst bashed five home runs, including two apiece from Jordan Scrimpsher and Jonathan Mays, while completing a three-game sweep of the Illinois Institute of Technology with a 16-7 win. Elmhurst remained unbeaten on the young season, improving to 4-0 with the victory. Elmhurst totaled 16 hits in the contests. Jordan Scrimspser, Jonathan Mays and Trevor Horwath all finished with three hits apiece. Mays scored runs and drove in six while Scrimpsher scored two runs and knocked in five. Horwath scored twice and drove in a run.
Manhattanville, playing its 2020 home opener at Houlihan Park on the campus of Fordham, March 8, picked up the 10-2 victory over John Jay. Sophomore Tyler Viscusi helped the Valiants even out their record by picking up his first win of the season in the start, going 5.0 innings with three strikeouts and two allowed. Junior Jack Matero swung the bat well, going 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored.
William Paterson (6-1) struck for a total of 28 runs during just 12 at-bats, sweeping a seven-inning doubleheader from visiting Keene State (0-5), 18-2 and 10-6. Matt Ferrara went 2-for-4 while driving in four runs, and Steven DiGirolamo finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored in the opening contest. Adrian Alarcon registered a 2-for-2 performance that included one RBI. Un game two Carson Weis tallied three hits, including a triple, and two runs scored, while Dane Carter was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a pair of RBI and two runs.
Bates bounced back from getting shutout 7-0 in game one to defeat Endicott 9-3 in game two of Sunday's doubleheader between the two teams at North Field. Endicott's Rian Schwede scattered eight hits and did not walk anyone in a complete game 7-0 shutout of the Bobcats in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. Sophomores Christian Beal and Kevin Lucey both homered and the Bobcats used six different pitchers in a 9-3 victory over Endicott in game two.
The Hiram Terriers split a pair of matchups against Thiel and Rockford to open the 2020 season at the 30th Annual Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic, walking off to beat the Tomcats, 5-4, before falling to the Regents, 15-0 at the Lee County Player Development Complex. With the win, the Terriers move to 1-1 on the year. Humphry (1-0) earned the win for Hiram, allowing one run on four hits, walking one and striking out three over 4.2 innings pitched. Moore got the start for the Terriers, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits, walking two and striking out one. Cristian Pearcy (2-0) earned the win for the Regents, striking out 11 over 6.0 innings pitched, while Kerrick Jones recorded a save. With the win, Rockford remained undefeated, moving to 6-0 on the year.
McDaniel plated four runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend a one-run edge into a five-run lead and complete a weekend sweep of CCNY, 8-3. Julian Jenkins was on base in all five plate appearances for the Green Terror, recording two hits and three walks. He also scored two runs and stole two bases. Nathan O'Brochta allowed six hits and fanned five in five innings of work to pick up the win.
Suffolk and Westfield State split a doubleheader with the Rams taking game one and the Owls prevailing in the second. Westfield State scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings where Suffolk took care of business to capture a 12-8, eight-inning win over the Owls in the first of a two-game series at Pat Thomas Stadium. Suffolk baseball's bats went quiet over the final four frames, which allowed Westfield State to take a 5-4 nightcap win over the Rams to split the two-game series at Pat Thomas Stadium.
Oswego State used solid starting pitching from Kieran Finnegan and Ronald Loomis to earn a doubleheader sweep of the Arcadia Knights on Sunday afternoon at Temple University's Skip Wilson Field. Millikin closed out their first weekend on home soil as they faced Loras and Knox in back to back games. The Big Blue would take the first game against Loras 4-3 but would fall 10-7 to Knox in the second game of the evening.

The SUNY Cobleskill closed out their New Jersey weekend road trip by splitting a doubleheader with the host Cyclones of Centenary taking the first game by a score of 4-2 then losing in the nightcap by a 20-5 margin in games played on the turf at the Diamond of Dreams Complex. The Fighting Tiger pitching staff turned in a strong effort in the win as junior Jarrod Williams, earned the win going 6 2/3 innings allowing two unearned runs on seven hits, striking out six while walking three to even his record at 2-2 on the year. Senior Cole Fratesi had seven RBIs in a game two win to lead the Centenary to a doubleheader split. Fratesi's seven RBIs are the most by a Cyclone since fellow senior Jon Fleck had seven against Valley Forge last year.
A total of 30 runs were scored in just 14 total innings for the Illinois Wesleyan Titams in their doubleheader sweep of Gordon. The Titans are now 6-2 with a 4-0 record on the current Florida trip while Gordon fell to 4-3. This is the first instance of IWU scoring at least 10 runs in both doubleheader games since scoring 11 runs in both games against Wheaton (Ill.), April 16, 2019. The Titans scored 12 in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings combined to earn a decisive 13-1 victory over the Fighting Scots in game 1. IWU racked up 10 hits led by Brandon Skopick and Jeran Simpson who collected three each. The IWU offense didn't let up in the second leg of the doubleheader, spreading out their runs in a 17-4 clobbering of the Fighting Scots in game two. Skopick set a career-high with four hits and scored four runs with an RBI while Jared Mutter had five RBI's on the day to keep the Titans undefeated in Florida in 2020.
Allegheny won with pitching and defense in game one, and timely hitting in game two to earn a doubleheader sweep against Ithaca at Pullman Park, taking the opener, 2-1, before securing an 11-8 win in the nightcap. Andrew Vincent finished 3-for-5 with a double, two-run homer, and 4 RBI in game two. Dalton DuBois had three hits including breaking an 8-8 tie in the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer and eventual game-winning run. In the opener, Conor Deasy earned his first collegiate victory by working the first 7.0 innings and surrendering three hits, and one run with six strikeouts. Nolan Thompson worked the next 1.2 scoreless before giving way for Tarasi to get the final out on the ground to seal the win.
St. Scholastica broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the seventh and then three more in the eighth to defeat RPI 8-4 on Sunday for its first win at the RussMatt Invitational. Grant Taival pitched only 0.2 innings of relief to get the win. Jerry Gooley went 6.1 innings to earn the no decision. Jack Perala and Dallas Miller allowed only one hit over the final two innings. Mitchell Olson was 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the offense. His three and hits and four RBIs were career-highs. Joey Zwak was 3-for-5 and scored three times.
Dominican opened play at the Florida Coast Spring Training tournament, topping Kenyon in game 1, 7-6, before falling to Immaculata, 2-1, in game two. The Stars' pitchers combined for 22 strikeouts in the split, with Hayden Young punching out ten over eight innings in game one while Bryant Bagshaw logged nine Ks in the game two loss. "In game one we somehow found a way to win a game while striking out 20 times," said Steve Hardman, the Stars' head baseball coach. "That is really hard to do. I felt like we left a win on the table in game two because we stranded a ton of runners—with less than two outs. Right now we are not a very good team. Luckily we are able to get back on the field tomorrow and try to turn that around."
Plymouth State scored seven times in the top of the ninth to rally past Baruch, 11-6, in a non-conference game at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. PSU led 4-0 through three innings, but the Bearcats came back with two runs in the fourth and sixth innings to tie the game. Baruch went ahead with a two-run eighth, but Plymouth State battled back. Sophomore Drew Metzdorf knocked in the game-tying and go-ahead runs with a single and two batters later senior Andrew Salta came all the way around the bases for a three-run, in-the-park homer. The Panthers added another insurance run and Baruch didn't threaten in the bottom of the inning. Plymouth State extends its winning streak to four straight to improve to 4-1, while the Bearcats move to 6-2.
The Concordia Wisconsin Falcons closed out their Florida competition with a doubleheader sweep of the Penn State Altoona Lions. Ryan Green earned the win, striking out seven in six innings of work. Beau Wills closed out the game with a scoreless final inning, allowing no hits and striking out one to earn the save. The Falcons broke the 4-4 tie in the bottom of the sixth with two outs as Dillan Fike scored from third on a throwing error. Blake Gosswein followed with an RBI double to right to make it 6-2. Wills pitched the final two innings for the Falcons and earned the win.

Marymount opened up its Spring Break trip to the Sunshine State, splitting a seven-inning twin bill with Washington Colllege. The first of two seven-inning games saw the Shoremen get on the board first, putting up a run in the first and third inning to take a 2-0 advantage that would hold up in a 2-1 win. The Saints fortunes were better as Matt Schneider earned the 4-3 win on the mound, his third of the season, not giving up a run and striking out one over 2.1 innings in relief.
Springfield swept Williams in their doubleheader at Archie Allen Field. They won their first game in ten innings, 6-5, then walked it off in the second game as well, 4-3. The Pride got off to their first 5-0 start since 2011, and it was not easy. The team needed to play their best when it counted, and that is exactly what they did. “Those guys are fighting and scratching and clawing,” Head Coach Mark Simeone said. “And I think that’s what we’ve done extremely well this weekend – is competed. We’ve competed very well – we haven’t played as well as we’re going to, but we competed well, and that helped us win those games.”
Saint Joseph's (Maine) (3-7) capped the 2020 spring break trip with a 7-3 victory over Cornell College (2-4) in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Tournament. For the Monks, sophomore Devan Harrison picked up the win after tossing three scoreless innings in relief with a pair of strikeouts and junior closer Jonathan Marchia earned his second save of the season after fanning five batters in 2.2 innings of work. Freshman starter Sam Jalbert did not factor into the decision after allowing three runs (two earned) off five hits and four walks with four K's in 3.1 innings.
Skidmore opened its Florida trip with a 23-2, 12-8 sweep of SUNY Canton. The Thoroughbreds pounded out 29 hits in the two games.Justin LaRose had six runs and six RBI on four hits. He cleared the bases with a three-run shot in a 10-run first inning and had a two-run double in the fourth. Jake Hardy had five hits with a triple, three runs and four RBI.
After picking up a dramatic comeback win yesterday, Concordia Chicago looked to make it two straight wins to open the spring break trip. The Cougars would do just that as the offense got going along with a complete pitching effort to propel CUC to a 7-2 win over Fontbonne. Adam Gregory picked up the win, throwing six shutout innings while striking out seven on just 73 pitches.
DeSales opened up its spring trip to San Antonio, Texas with a doubleheader sweep of Schreiner, 5-2 and 8-0. The Bulldogs once again rode senior John Poccia who fired his second straight complete-game allowing two runs over seven innings scattering seven hits and striking out three. Freshman Tom Berg III was impressive in his first collegiate start tossing five shutout innings allowing just four hits and striking out two to earn his first win. Sophomore Will Manley fired two shutout innings in relief to finish up the shutout win.
Junior Erik Wortmann tossed a one-hit shutout in the opening game and senior Ryan Augustus belted a two-run homer in game two as Gettysburg (3-1) opened its spring break trip with a clean sweep of Delaware Valley (1-3), winning the opening game 17-0 and taking the nightcap 3-2.. Gettysburg's 20 hits in the opener were the most since the team posted 21 against Johns Hopkins on April 10, 2018. All nine starters recorded a base knock with five logging extra-base hits. In contract, Gettysburg's four base hits in game two marked its lowest total in a victory since the current statistical software was put into place in 2002. The previous low for hits in a victory over the last 18 years was five.
Christopher Newport put up double-digits for the fifth straight game and ran away with an 18-5 win at Gallaudet (4-8). The Captains offense set a program record with five triples in the game as part of an onslaught of ten extra-base hits against the Bison as Christopher Newport improved to 9-4 overall this season. Senior Evan Baer legged out a pair of triples to join Taylor Loudan as the only players in program history with two three-baggers in a game. Loudan accomplished the feet on April 4, 2015 against St. Mary's (Md.). Baer's pair alongside one each for rookies Jonathan Fisher, Eric Lingebach, and Alec Reilly shattered the previous team record of three triples in a game set in 2012 against Blackburn.

Brandeis had its biggest inning of the season in the opener of a doubleheader against Western New England today, but the Golden Bears were able to keep the Judges at bay in the second contest as the teams split a doubleheader at the New England Baseball Complex today. Brandeis won the opener, 13-1, while WNEU claimed the second game, 4-0. Brandeis is now 6-4 on the season, Western New England 3-4. Thirteen was a lucky number for the Judges in the opener, as they scored 13 runs and got a career-high 13 strikeouts from senior pitcher Greg Tobin. In the second game, WNEU again scored in the first inning, this time striking for three runs. That was all the offense the Golden Bears needed as a trio of pitchers held Brandeis to just three hits and one walk.
WPI opened their 2020 season with a pair of low-scoring victories, sweeping a doubleheader against 2019 NCAA Division III World Series participant Washington & Jefferson at Chain O'Lakes Stadium. The Engineers, who did not commit an error on the day, won the opener 2-0 and then closed out the day with a 3-1 win in game two. Washington & Jefferson falls to 1-4 on the season.
DePauw evened its record at 4-4 after completing a weekend sweep of Manchester, winning both games today by scores of 5-3 and 8-5. Jackson Williams, Zach White and Kyle Boyer each had two of DePauw's nine hits with Zaine Young collecting three of Manchester in the opener Trey Shaw, Williams, Kyle Callahan and Jack Omstead each had two of DePauw's 11 hits.
UW-Platteville (3-3) played a pair of double headers against Eureka (5-5) on Saturday and Sunday. The Pioneers split the Saturday games with a 5-16 loss and a 5-3 win. The Pioneers won both Sunday games with an 8-5 win and a 12-10 win. Freshman Jacob Berendes threw the first four innings in the opener allowing five earned runs. Junior Ian Schildgen (1-0) earned the win with five scoreless innings to finish the game. Junior Samuel Peters earned the game two win, allowing two earns runs in the final six innings and recording nine strikeouts.
New York University won both games of a doubleheader against Stockton, in Galloway, NJ. The Violets scored a dozen runs in each game, sweeping the Ospreys by scores of 12-1 and 12-10. Offensively, Chris Cassandra, Grant Berman and Coltrane Tait led NYU in game one, tallying two hits each. Tait also tabbed five RBI's for the Violets. Berman and Tait finished game two going 3-for-4 and 2-for-5, respectively.
