    Senior pinch hitter Tim Blankenship broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning, and the UMW baseball team added two more runs in the inning to defeat third-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University, 7-4, on Monday afternoon at V. Earl Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles improve to 13-5 on the season, and run their win streak to seven straight.

    Mary Washington has named Kelly Swiney as its new head coach, as announced by school officials. Swiney had been the head coach at Westminster (Pa.) for two seasons after coaching at his alma mater, Allegheny, for nine seasons.

    Mary Washington ended their regular season with a split result with York (Pa.), winning the opener, 21-9, for head coach Wayne Riser's 600th career win. Senior James Keller hit for the cycle and set the program HR record in the 5-3 game two loss.
