With the first round of the SAA tournament in the books it was three sweeps as top seeded Centre advanced as well as under dogs Sewanee and Rhodes. Fourth seeded Hendrix defeated Oglethorpe two games to one. The Colonels will host the double elimination pod round of the SAA Tournament on May 2-4.
Rhodes rebounded after yesterday's loss with a huge win in a heated battle against the WashU Bears this afternoon. Junior Ben Burkhart, hitting .465 on the year, punched in an incredible offensive performance, going 4-4 and hitting for the cycle, including a line-drive homer over the scoreboard that left the bat at over 110 MPH. Burkhart also scored 4 times himself.
Dubuque, Fontbonne, Huntingdon, Moravian and Oglethorpe opened their seasons with a wins in mid-week action. Rhodes and Centenary met for the first time, splitting a two game set that saw Gents head coach earn win #300.
Methodist defeated Alma in their season opening doubleheader with double digit runs in each end. CNU also won twice this week but featured pitching and timely hitting for their wins.
Piedmont and La Verne earned their first wins of the season. ThLions defeated Cal Lutheran and La Verne bested Linfield. Widener was a Wednesday winner with Rhodes and Hendrix opening with wins on Tuesday.

Centre used a no-hitter to reach the SAA tournament and they pitched another gem as they bounced No. 13 Berry into the losers bracket. Birmingham-Southern took care of business, shutting out Rhodes.

Rhodes College baseball scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a 14-4 7-inning victory over No. 8 ranked Millsaps College Saturday. The Lynx are one win away from advancing to the SAA Tournament Championship next weekend.
Rhodes College baseball picked up their fourth straight victory after a three hour and 48 minute conference matchup over Berry to sweep the series. The Lynx overcame the Vikings on a walk-off single in the ninth after recording 15 of the 27 hits in the game.
