After a national search school officials announced Joe Brooks as the new Head Baseball Coach at Gwynedd Mercy. Coach Brooks takes over the Gwynedd Mercy baseball program at a historical time as a campus-wide transformation.
Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (3/16/2022) - Senior second baseman Rob Bailey (Abington, Pa.) and sophomore right fielder Barry Walker (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) gave Gwynedd Mercy University (3-8) a 2-1 lead over Misericordia University (8-6) after the first two inning's of this afternoon's home opener. The Cougars stole the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning, 3-2, but the Griffins answered immediately as double steal from Bailey and senior left fielder Brett Swire (Boyertown, Pa.) and a double to right center from sophomore shortstop Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.) gained them a 4-3 lead. Unfortunately, Misericordia University won the later innings, changing places with Gwynedd Mercy University with a 3-1 fifth inning, 6-5, and adding an insurance run to their 7-5 victory a sixth-inning sacrifice fly.
Myrtle Beach, S.C. - (3/5/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-5) scored in the first inning of today's affair with the United States Coast Guard Academy (1-2) thanks to a one-out walk to senior right fielder T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) and a triple to left field from junior first baseman first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.). Unfortunately the Bears scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, 4-1, six in the bottom of the third inning, 10-4, and five in the fourth inning, 15-7, to overshadow Brasier home runs on the third and fourth innings of an eventual 16-8 final.
Myrtle Beach, S.C. - (3/4/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-4) began their spring break competition at the Ripken Experience with an unfortunate 7-0 loss to the University of Mary Washington (6-4). The Eagles put four runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning, another in the the seventh inning, and two in the eighth, while the Griffins stranded nine runners in the affair.
Pete O'Hara has been named the head coach as announced by the Gwynedd Mercy Athletic Department. O'Hara becomes the second coach in team history for the Griffins replacing long-time skipper Paul Murphy who started the program back in 1999.
RADNOR, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Baseball Team defeated Cabrini, 10-9, on Saturday afternoon to capture the 2019 Atlantic East Conference Championship. Nick Mulvey who was 1-for-4 on the day with an RBI and scored twice, was named the Championship MVP. The previous day, the senior drove in a career-high seven runs as part of their win in game one.
